What is the name of your pet and how did you come up with it?

My kids' cat's name is Tokey.  I asked my daughter how they came up with that name and she said it comes from smoking joint.  Instead of saying "Wanna smoke?" nowadays kids say "Wanna toke up?"

In my home we have always had the kids take turn naming the pets.  The theme through the years has been Disne films, characters or disney names.  For instance we had a doc name Sebastian which reflected the name of the crab in the Littlest Mermaid.

Rosey! that is too funny! Very original name! My oldest son and I adopted a dog from the pound several years back. We prayed to find a dog with specific qualities that suited both my son and myself. Fell in love with the second dog we met. Named him "Shadrack" after a man  of faith from the Old Testament of the Bible...a couple of years later my youngest son bought an 8-week old female German Shepherd puppy. Wanted to name her after some famous German female...the only one that came to mind was Ava Braun, Hitler's mistress, hence he named her "Ava". Recently both sons and their pets stayed in the same house with their dogs. Had a huge laugh that not only were these two life-long rivals (my sons) staying together but how totally ironic to have a dog with a Biblical, Jewish name and a dog named after Hitler's mistress staying under the same roof, as well...vintage for my gang!

My dog's name is Ripley! Not from the show lol. From Sigourney Weaver's character in Alien! smile

My cat, Eleena, from a Terry Pratchett book

My other cat, Hurri was named by his original owner, my mother-in-law.... who named one Hurricane and one Tornado. (Hurri and Tori)

That't funny Rosie, and what a great name they chose. My female dog is MAGZ after my sons Matt, Allan and Garth and the Z is the first letter of our last name.
Bruce my male is my Scottish Clan Name.

We have a bird named Bilbo Baggins from "The Lord of the Rings," and two dogs, "Lucy" and "Prince Caspian" (Prince for short), both from Narnia.
We also have four barn cats, "Edmund" from Narnia, "Lucky" because he was the only one who survived the litter, "Columbus" after Christopher Columbus, and "Willie" whose name was Lily but my little guy pronounced it wrong and it stuck.  Then one indoor cat, "Tiger" and I have no clue where that came from.

I named my dog Molly...I didn't name her after anyone, she just seemed like a "Molly" to me, and I think it has ended up being the perfect name for her!

I have several pets, but the one that comes to mind is "Hootie". Ever since her eyes were open as a puppy, she has been an escape artist, she could get out of everything and anything. We named her "Houdini", but it evolved into "Hootie".

We have two rescue cats. One was named Jordan when we adopted him. We liked it so we kept it. The other was named Froggy, which was totally ridiculous. We changed it to Hunter because he is a sleek, gorgeous cat that is pretty adept at stalking things in the yard.

My cat's name is Aura because that's what the adoption center gave her for a name.  I had the opportunity to change it but she's a tortoise shell calico and I thought it fit well.
