My first pet was a black and white cat, and I named her pickels. She was an angry cat, but I still loved her.

My first pet, childhood friend, and the best dog ever (her nickname was "superdog") was a golden retriever that my family adopted when I was 2 years old.  Her name was Megan and we were best friends until she passed away my sophomore year in college.  I still have dreams with her in them where we're running on the beach or through the forest smile  They're some of my favorite dreams.

My favorite memory with her was when I got my drivers license at 16.  Since I could remember, I daydreamed about driving around in my car with Megan in the passenger seat with her head out the window.  I knew it would be awesome.  When I got my license, I made my mom drive me home so that the first time I drove on my own it was with my best friend in the passenger seat smile

Growing up on a farm, my memory may be cloudy as to facts.

My first memory is of a white German Shepard dog, called Snow.

He stood at my Grandmother's clothesline, facing the cold north wind, and simply ...................died.

As a young girl, I could not understand why.

My Grandparents told me, he was an old dog, animals have a sense of death, he died proud, it was his time to go...............

45 years later, my mind vividly recalls that winter day......and the box my Grandpa built for him.  I am sure he did this, to comfort me and not the dog.

My first childhood pet was a black lab. He was already around before I was born, but I still consider him my first pet.
