Whats the best way to start a website?
and it get it set up? What are the steps? I thought it...would be simple, but it's making me nervous. I know you first have to get a yourwebsite @ .com but whats next???
Easiest and cheapest way I found was Google Sites. It's Google, it's free, and it's, er, easy. You don't to even buy a domain name.
However, creating content and making it worth visiting - that is a level of hard I didn't even know existed. That's why I gave up and started on HP.
It really depends on what your goals are for the site, and what type of website it is.
Is it for a business?
A personal blog?
An 'information' website?
A forum?
A site about you?
A site to sell your stuff?
There are so many types of websites you could create, each with their own 'best way' of being created.
use blogger.com with it's simple drag and drop interface, and in the settings you can buy your own domain for 10 bucks and your off, good luck.
ps:
the blogs url www.xxx.blogger.com is free, the ten dollars is for your own domain name www.xxx.com and they do everything for you and its hosted by google so its really secure. when your happy with your ability at blogger you can try wordpress but a little more tech knowledge needed.

Well, I think it depends completely on WHY you want to set up your own website. If you are doing it for a start-up, I would recommend buying other domains that are similar just in case your company strikes it rich in the future (for example, facebook recently bought the domain name www.fb.com for a couple million $$). If you're buying a domain name and building a website for fun, get a good XHTML & CSS editor and start coding. If you don't know how to write code, just learn the basic structure and copy/paste already written code from the web.
Hope it helps!
