Do you believe your government is already listening to your phone and reading your email?
With all the smoke around Rupert Murdock in the UK, do you think your government is doing the same kind of thing listening in on conversations and reading email, reviewing your facebook?
I personally do not believe the government is actively listening to my calls, no. That being said I fully believe that they have the capacity to do so at will and would, were I an "interesting" person.
My real paranoias lie with Google, Facebook, Apple, and Microsoft. Between the three of them they know everything; the age, sex, nationality, interests, job, probable income, bank details and even moment to moment physical location almost every person outside of third world countries. Furthermore where I trust the government to only access and use this data for security and/or census data, these companies are far more likely to use this information in any way that would turn them a profit.

I'm with Atrix,
For sure the Government has the capablity and in many ways I'm sure they are using it and if we were to pop up on their radar for any reason we would be susprised how quickly they would respond.
Of course having said that, here in the UK the latest Media scandal of Phone hacking has been going on for years, investigated a number of times, apparently nobody noticed the Crime !
Now Google on the other hand, they have a Map where we live, to cross refer to all the other information they have.
Write a Hub on any subject and just watch how quickly your screen is swamped in what they consider relevent adverts....
And Yes I truly believe they would sell our souls for a few bucks !
Love both the above response`s....
Recently here in Oregon a friend of mine decided to test this theory and talk about a certain recently deceased individual who had a nice walled in condo in Pakistan that now sports a downed Helicopter on its front lawn ( Wonder what Pakistani is for Redneck)
Anyway, he had a long phone conversation about said Cadaver .
A short time after the call a black Chopper circled his 5 acre estate several times …after which he called me and said he had never been that scared in his life and that he had only been joking…
Now who knows? I figure the computer just picked up the key word and when they saw the house and lawn ornaments :0) they figured he was the local idiot and left!!!
Other wise just an expensive practical joke ????????
Mike :0)
Sadly, anyone who says "no" is just wrong. It's not even a secret anymore that the NSA records every landline and cellular call in the U.S. "Legally" they cannot actively listen to the recordings (no warrant) so they store them away for 90 days, at which time the are "supposed" to destroy them. This has been in the News several times because the NSA keeps "forgetting" to destroy the records after 90 days. Don't be so naive. As I said, YES they record everything. They don't even hide the fact that this happens.
I don't think so, there is nothing in my life that would remotely flag me for concern to our government- I am happily boring.

The government is illegally seizing your phone records. The NSA is forcing all mobile providers to hand over all their data on every single call, outgoing and incoming, for a three month period. But don't worry, The Voice is on, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

http://www.americanrevolutioncenter.org … 27_web.pdfUnbelievable! What's wrong is Americans don't have a clue as to the importance of their rights, they simply take them for granted and presumably would be more than willing to give them up!
