    Backlinks and its advantages?

Backlinks are very essential to rank in search engines.

Just based on title tags or content (SEO) search engines can not decide who can rank in top 10 positions. It sees how good reputation the website has got, means how many links the website has got from other websites, both the website itself as well back links contribute equally to the search engine ranking.

    cheers.

The simple way to view a backlink is as though it is a recomendation.

In the real world, if you need a plumber, you can either pick an unknown one from the yellow pages (if you've still got one) or you ask a friend. You will always trust the recomendation over the ad every time. This is how google views your site. The more recomendations,  the more importantly google views your site and the further up the rankings you will go.

The key to backlinks is that they must be 1. Relevant and 2. Have authority.

Getting the relevant backlinks is relatively simple, getting the authority ones is a bit more complex.

Get the relevant ones first via article marketing and social bookmarking first, then go searching for authority sites in your niche that let you backlink.

Sounds simple, but it is hard work, have fun!!

Backlinks are votes towards your site or page. The more you have the better. If the vote says "Good man"(anchor text of backlink) then you will rank for good man in google results. If the site that is #1 in google has 5 votes that say good man then you have to have 6 votes(relevant and authority votes). The key to backlinks is relevancy(your sites about apples and the site that gives you a backlink is about apples) and the authority of the site (the more trusted the better) .I give an explanation of this in my hub http://hubpages.com/hub/Search-Engine-O … -Guide-Seo under the subheading Quality of web page inbound linking
