It was a dark and stormy night..........

I was on my way home from a long day at work. The rain was falling in sheets on my windshield and I could hardly see out the window. Dark clouds were looming up above and were visible with every bolt of lightning that lit up the sky. I couldn’t wait to get home to my comfy apartment where I could shake off the day and relax. I reached to turn up the volume and the Honeybees were playing their hit record. Made me smile as I drove the rest of the way home.

I pulled up to my duplex and noticed how sinister it looked against the night sky so dreary and bleak….it almost looked like a haunted house against the storm. I finally parked the car and went up the steps to the building and hurriedly went to my apartment, when I noticed that my apartment door was ajar. I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand up and was almost too scared to go in, I thought about calling the police or the landlord or something or even a neighbor, but decided to go it alone.

I reached out for the doorknob and walked in the apartment, I reached for the light switch in the darkness and turned on the lights. Right away I could tell that someone had been in my apartment because things were askew. I followed the trail into the bedroom and picked up a lamp in case I needed to hit someone over the head with it; as I walked further I tripped over a turned over rug and fell down and hurt my leg. I struggled to get up and managed to walk into the bedroom and discovered it was empty. I immediately went over to my dresser and located my jewelry box, and opened it up to see if the intruder had taken my good jewelry. I opened the box up and there in all their glory, was my beautiful jewelry, the intruder didn’t take the jewelry.

What in the world could this person have burgled my apartment for if it wasn’t the jewelry, it was the only thing of value that I had, unless, Oh my I remembered the other thing of value that was in my possession and I couldn’t catch my breath….OMG, the hub nuggets! I went to the secret compartment of the jewelry box and opened it up(organ music here) THE BOX WAS EMPTY, THE HUBNUGGETS NOMINEES WERE GONE!!

I immediately went to the emergency phone and called the rest of the hubnuggeteers, I told them to meet me at my apartment right away I was calling an emergency meeting regarding the hub nugget nominees! After a while they all showed up, Patty showed up first then Red Elf, Enelle Lamb, KKG, Ripplemaker our hub pages cheerleader, and of course Maddie, then Jason was the last to arrive.

I told them what happened and they all agreed that we needed to call the police. I called the police and reported the incident and they reassured us that they would send an officer right away, in the meantime we all decided to make a back up plan in case the hub nugget nominees were not found.

When the police finally arrived, he took down all the information that he could and then he had a couple of people dust the apartment for fingerprints. The officer said that there was some spots of blood on the jewelry box and dresser and they took samples of it. The officer also insisted that everyone in the room was a suspect and advised us all to go with him to the police department to take our fingerprints and to volunteer our DNA, I asked the officer if that is really necessary and he said,” Lady, the hubnugget nominees have been stolen, this is a matter of great importance”. We all agreed and followed him to the station and let them do what they had to do. I thought it was ridiculous after all, we were all hubnuggeteers and surely it wouldn’t be one of us, what could any of us gain by stealing these little gems? We all went home and decided to wait it out and see if the police could come up with anything.

First thing next morning, the ringing of the telephone woke me up and the person on the other end of the phone was the police, he said, “Ladyjane, you are going to have to come down to the station, your DNA was all over the blood we found on your jewelry box,(organ music here) you are going to have to come down for an interrogation”. OMG!

As I drove down to the station, I kept thinking about everything that had happened in the last few days and I knew that I was going to have to tell the police everything I knew no matter what, the truth had to be told.

When I got to the station, I went into the interrogation room with the officer and I was already mentally prepared to tell him the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I took a deep breath and told the officer that I would start from the beginning…..and I told him everything.

Okay I told him I might as well start from the beginning. You see a few days ago, I got a call from my identical twin sister that I haven’t seen in years. We were not close at all because she is nothing but evil….she’s evil I tell you. I kept on explaining and started from the time that we were kids, and to my surprise the words rolled right off my tongue and I couldn’t stop once I started. I told him how when we were babies, my sister was a very dark and troubled child, she was always taking the blanket away from me in our bed, and she was always poking me with her finger, sticking it up my nose at times and always finishing her bottle and taking mine away. When we started to get old enough to crawl and pull ourselves up, I would always pull myself up first and then she would come along and pull me down by my pamper and pull herself up while I flopped down in tears. Our parents always thought that was so cute and funny, they laughed as I sat there crying my eyes out.

She wasn’t even as smart as I was, while I was forming words like mama and dada she was saying nothing but gibberish and nonsense like gaga. While my clothes were always pristine and clean, hers was the opposite and she always got her food all over herself. My parents noticing this started calling us by nicknames. Since I was a pristine, beautiful princess, they called me Ladyjane, and because she was a mess and couldn’t put two words together other than gaga, they nicknamed her LadyGaga!

Things went from bad to worse once we got into high school, she was always stealing my boyfriends and stealing my homework

She was always playing tricks on people and pretending to be me, I knew deep down there was a resentment for me and I knew that she would have given everything to be Ladyjane. Once we graduated we went our own ways, I vowed never to have anything to do with my evil twin again. She went on to become a pop music singer and apart from the occasional news I read about her, I didn’t want or need to hear from her at all, and I didn’t for years, until the other day when she called me and wanted me to meet her for dinner. I refused, I told her that I never wanted to see her face again as along as I live. I told the officer that that was all I knew, and I had not seen my sister and I had no idea what my sister wanted. Now I knew that my evil twin sister wanted my hub nuggets!!! Her evilness knew no bounds, she had stolen the hub nuggets and was only planning on using them for evil purposes, I was sure about that.

The officer looked at me astonished and said, “but Ladyjane, if that is the case why is your DNA all over the jewelry case and not hers”? I told the cop, do I have to do your job for you as well officer?

( Organ music here again)We are identical twin sisters, her DNA is identical to mine Einstein!

Aha, looks like we got our thief said the officer. I told him that he could probably pick LadyGaGa up at the Waldorf, where she always stays when she is in town. The officer tipped his hat to me and said, “good work Ladyjane”! I will get those hub nuggets back to you in no time, hopefully before the contest starts.

I was relieved that it was all over, the mystery was solved and my evil twin was in jail where she belonged. As I sat there pondering the fate of my sister, the thought hit me that this probably wasn’t going to be the end of this, my sister is never stopped for good. I’m sure someday, somewhere, she will be back trying to make more trouble for me, but for now I was just glad that she was in jail……..or was she?
