Which one has the better traffic? Generalized or Specific?

Does a hub with a more general category have better traffic than that of having a very specific targeted subcategory?
Say, I'm publishing a hub under Religion. If I leave it at religion, will it have a better trafiic than that of making it more specific by choosing subcategories like Christianity, Jesus, and the Bible, Catholic, Christian Holidays, etc.?

I think a hub on a specific topic ought to have more traffic as people search for specific information on search engines.

I am new to Hubpages but my experience from blogging indicates that specific is far more effective.

Your options aren't specific as well - they are broad categories with lots of competition you'll need to be more specific for traffic big_smile

I think more important would be how you form your title and whether it matches up with what people are searching for ..   you could try keyword questions from wordtracker for title ideas https://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/keyword-questions/

If your hub floats around in a general category, it is competing with many other hubs in the same general category.  Sure there are more readers, but there are a lot more articles.

The more specific the hub (and category), there are fewer readers looking for that topic, but there is a lot less competition, so the readers who are looking for info are more likely to find your hub and read it.

By the way, it is not just the categories that are important.  This also applies to your keywords, and the subject matter of the hub.

I think you need to categorize your topic specifically, your title will catch the readers eye, & interest on search engines, and in social networking portals, walls streams, blogs, rss feeds, and many other area's of the web.

You definitely need to be more specific with everything you do on the web, but make sure when doing so, all your meta tags are even more specific, because the search engines use them to place your hub in ranks with all the other web locations being trafficked, Poor SEO equates to poor viewing levels overall on the web.
