Can I publish articles while awaiting Google adsense approval?

I applied for my AdSense account to be attached to my Hubs over a week ago. I was initially told by the Hub page team it would take 72 hours for approval but have now been told it could take several weeks. Is this the norm? Can I apply for my Amazon affiliation and continue to publish articles while waiting for approval from Google?

You can still publish articles and you don't need to wait for approval, as I've signed up for AdSense too and they have no problems with me publishing reviews, questions and forum posts ^^

    Go ahead and start publishing!

You won't earn anything on those articles until all the google bits and bobs go through, but it doesn't stop you writing. Why not try and generate some good sustained traffic from now?

    It can only help....

You certainly can post your articles. Not all articles require ads anyway. Once you get approval, you can have ads appearon your Hubs or include Amazon capsules in existing hubs by editing them.

First of all, you usually need more content than just one Hub to get approved based on your HubPages activity. I'm not saying you certainly won't be approved, but if you are not based in the US there is a real chance you won't.

As for publishing while waiting for an answer. Absolutely yes. Google wants AdSense publishers to be active and post on a regular basis. The sooner you get to it, the better your chances.

You can also apply for an Amazon Associates account.

I did the same thing almost six months ago.  I am still waiting for approval.  I have published 36 Hubs and working on my 37th.  I get more page views from Google than I do HubPages.  I live in the U.S.  I'm not sure how long it will take, but until then, I'll keep publishing.  I think my mistake was applying for the account before publishing anything.  I should have waited until I had 10 or more hubs first.  You can apply for Amazon affiliation and place their ads on you Hubs while you wait (but, they only pay for purchases not clicks.  So far I have had few clicks and no purchases).  eBay and Hubpages require an Adsense account before applying for them.
