   My Hub has automatically had the ads removed because of content...
   
   Because of the content (it's about how breasts can affect a woman's confidence, so there are some 'bad' words in there) my Hub has automatically had the ads removed. I thought it might be a problem, so I e-mailed the Hubpages team to ask if it was okay. They said it was and that the ads should be put back on by them at some point. I was just wondering when that would be? Has anyone been in a similar situation before? Should I wait to publish it, or publish it without the ads?

   It is tricky when you are on the borderline like that because you are not only dealing with Hubpages, but also Google, and human readers. Hubpages is more accepting than Google, and you never know what humans are going to find 'offensive'.
   
   I have a hub on Sex Ed that had ads disabled. I wrote Hubpages and made suggested changes (it was a single phrase causing problems) and ads were put back up for about a month before they were removed again. I don't know if it was Google adjustments or a human who flagged it. Either way, I just didn't want to bother with it again so I just left it published without ads.
   
   It seems like it took a day or two for ads to pop back up on mine. You might want to wait a couple days and see or you may want to just not worry about ads on that one.

      Thanks for answering! I've been really careful with phrasing, pictures and the like so I really don't think it is offensive, but I guess time will tell! So the ads reappeared on yours before you published it the first time? Bit confused, sorry!

      I published it without ads, then contacted HP, made changes, and had ads up for about a month, before they were once again removed.

      Junkseller's response is one that seems to meet my questions on this.  I have not had this happen as of yet, but it's good to know how to handle it well.

   You should contact the moderators and ask them to review your Hub and see if they have any recommendations.  In some cases, they approve the content and override the automatic filters.  (yes, just saying breasts will trip a filter and kill your ads)

      Thanks for commenting! They did say it should be okay as I described it to them, so maybe I should let them know it's ready for publishing now, and ask them if they think the ads can be put back on.

   I have a humorous hub about a dog that goes off the rails. It does not contain any genuine adult content - well not unless you're an adult dog and it's nothing you wouldn't see in the park or on the street. However, in the process of reviewing my hubs, I tried to improve several words in it. When I finished editing, the dreaded skull and crossbones appeared, saying ads had been automatically removed! I was baffled as the words I had added were not in any way adult content. However, it would not remove the skull and crossbones until I had deleted all of them and put the hub back exactly the way it was originally!  It shows it is so easy to trigger these automatic content scanners. Sometimes, it could be possible to just alter a word, or reduce the number of times it appears, and you might be off their radar.

      Correction, it's a crossed out dollar sign, not a skull and crossbones. I was confusing it with the skull that comes up for violations.

      Thanks for answering! I did actually try searching for a few of the words that I thought might have set it off and came across your Hub. I was wondering why yours still had ads but mine didn't... strange! maybe I'll just have to contact them again,

      Those scanners seem to be a law unto themselves.  I wonder if there is any way to find a list of the particular words or phrases that trigger the shut down?
