Frustrations with Hubpages - traffic and ads related.
I'm a bit frustrated with Hubpages. It seems like it's much harder to add ads compare to last year? Also, it's hard to get traffic compare to when I opened this account last year?
What is your experience like compare to last year's? I was MIA for 7 months due to traveling.
Thanks!
My views were abnormally low for a while last year. However, I rebounded after I started publishing this year. Right now, I have record high views. Some tips I can offer:
- Take a look at Google's Keyword Tool and Google Trends to determine what people are most interested in. If you have knowledge on the subject, you can write about that (I'm of the mind that you shouldn't write about what's hot if you don't actually know about it, because it will inevitably show).
- Sell yourself. It's not enough to write good hubs. You need to go check out social networks and get word out that you exist as an article writer. Word of mouth can do more than most any other form of advertising.
- Use Google Analytics to gauge your views, but don't overdo it. You'll go crazy if you keep the darn tab open all day long, seeing how your views fluctuate at different times of the day.
Hope this helps, and good luck!
Thanks Winterfate, I really appreciate your suggestions! I'm in the process of making a blog outside of Hubpages, hopefully will get it done soon. It will be about travel and food. In the mean while, I will continue to publish contents on here until I can link them both together.
Would you mind if I follow you? Feel free to do the same in return, as I'm technically new here again.
Thanks!!

I just wrote a Hub last week entitled "Adam Lambert Sexed for Success". It did quite well, in fact it receive over 1700 views in less than a week. (that's good for me, anyway). My overall ranking on hubpages as of this morning was 96. The article was ranked anywhere from 87 - 93 and the...

I ask because I am currently experiencing yet another traffic surge. I've gone from 200+ views per day to in excess of 1600. Yet the income remains pretty darn poor.I've brought this up more than once and I have to say that it's very very puzzling. In every other platfrom that I write on (i.e. my...

Have any of you found detestable ads on your hubs? It is a "game" with girls in bras...how distasteful I want it off my hub...do you know if we have a say in this? It has nothing to do with my poem and is disgusting to me.

The negative impact of writers having removed most of their e-Bay Ads from HubPages must surely be having an impact on traffic to the whole site in general. Of course, I could be wrong about this!If this is the case though, then it means we also receive less traffic to our Hubs. I would...

I tend to lurk and have not been active on the forums at all, but what better place to get some help than from a whole community of experts! In the past 30 days, I have had approximately 10,000 page views, about half of them to one page alone. his is above average for me, but not wildly so, as...

This doesn't make sense. My article "Gardening for Beginners: 10 Easy Steps to Sowing Seeds which currently ranks in fourth place (despite all the deranking) for "How to Sow Seeds" has had its title changed to "How to Sow Seeds( Plus A Definition)". I'll change it back when...
