Why can't you just tell us the errors in our ways? Why do we have to figure them out on our own?
REALLY HUBPAGES?! All of a sudden I have broken links on four of my hubs. One hub I hadn't even touched in 10 MONTHS! The others a half a year! WHY NOW?! They were fine this entire time. I really don't know what a broken link is anyway.
Oh well, just like when I get a blase score, I have to figure out for myself what the powers that be deemed "wrong." A clue would be nice, yaknow. Save time and being my own super slueth.
A broken link is a link that doesn't work anymore. People click on it and it takes them nowhere. That isn't anyone at HubPages fault.
For whatever reason, the person who owns the video, photo, or text you are linking to has moved it, or taken it down completely. Or they may only allow it to be viewed in the place where it's posted/hosted.
You need to remove your link since it goes to nothing and you can give credit in a caption or the text in the case of a photo or text you are using. If it's a video you will have to find a different video to replace the old one, or just not have a video.
Ah, thank you! C.E.C. to the rescue! Yeah, Four hubs suddenly got hit. I think it might be my picture tag. All my guidance has been from other real life authors such as yourself. I feel like the HubPages "mascot" that you pros allow me tag along.
If you open the offending hubs in 'edit' mode, the suspected link will be highlighted, usually in yellow or pink. You will be notified at the top of each hub as to what color the highlighting is and that makes it easy to find the broken link.
i have trouble to hunt down where are the broken links too. True that those links are gone when I searched them. Better not include links
But I HAVE TO, PEACH in order to score high. Apparently I have to include a recipe too since there's an app ready made to include one. The bells and whistles are important. Wonder if HubPages knows human interest stories don't need a recipe?
This is actually quite common in older hubs. Many websites clean house, or reorganize their pages, which makes old links no longer functional. It's really easy to fix, simply by locating a new link (if that site still exists) or deleting the link from your hub.
Bingo! The only way you nice people and experienced writers make it hard on me to "survive" on this site is by all responses worthy of a "best answer" accolade. Thank you, thank you, thank you one and all! - Wait! A 94 & 93 score? My new idols!
There are good answers how it works. A suggestion is I have deleted my own hubs that were linked to in another hub and those links are no longer valid. I will get a broken link warning.
That was it, Sir Tim. I tell ya, the other authors and writers are OH SO helpful and nice on this site! Thank goodness!

Have you had this happen to you? I searched for the highlighted broken link but I could not find one. So how do you clear the notice?

I had six hubs showing broken links yesterday. I corrected all of them, but two are still showing the broken link icon. And, the edit date hasn't updated. Anyone else seeing this?

Hi I noticed recently that when hubs are listed in the Google search results the 2nd link doesn't got to the hub but to the category page - for example: You can see the tumblr page has the normal double link to the page ranked - but the hubpage doesn't the 2nd link is to...

I have the Broken Link symbol and I went to the hub to check it out. In Edit mode the message 2 possible broken links detected.I go through all links since nothing was "highlighted in yellow" on page. One link tested bad, so I deleted it. Since it is an important link, I pasted the exact...

Hello,I try not to make waves with "How Hubpages Operates" and I am not sure if this singular problem is having a huge effect or not. But, I've noticed that many hubs I had connected to other hubs via "embedded" links(anchored text) have not been coming up or being flagged as...

Matthew, I got a broken link icon for this hub. When I put it in edit mode, nothing is highlighted. I deleted one pic I thought it might be and two promotional comments with a website.com. It's still saying that the broken link is there but I can't find it. Please check,...
