When I'm suggesting links within my hub, and I highlight a word to make a choice for a link, then finish and move on to the next word, I notice that another word I had just highlighted disappears. For every word that I finish highlighting as a link, a nearby linking word in my hub becomes unlnked and disappears. At first, I thought that it would just happen once, but it happens over and over on all of my hubs, and has been going on for a long time now. Does anybody else have this problem?

Sorry you are having problems linking in your Hubs.
Let me see if I understand the situation:

      1. You highlight a word or phrase in the HubTool within a text capsule.
      2. You select the link tool and create a link in the Hub.
      3. The new hyper-linked you just created is shown in the Hub text capsule.
      4. You select a new word or phrase to assign to link
      5. Then the link you just previously made disappears?

      Is that accurate?

If so I can do some testing in Chrome and Vista.
In the meatime I would suggest.
      Clearing your browser cache.
Trying a different browser like Firefox.

Thank you, Matthew, you are exactly right.  Both strange and frustrating at the same time~ I will try your suggestion.

And this is specifically related to the suggest link tool and not the link tool in the text capsule, correct?

Correct. Only when using the Suggest Links tool.

Thanks for taking the time to report this.
I have reproduced the issue using the suggest link tool in both Firefox and Chrome.
It also looks like there currently is no easy workaround, other than noting the suggested URLs and adding them manually via the link tool in the text capsule, which is pretty cumbersome.

This has been sent to our engineering team to be addressed.

Thank you for your efforts! Meanwhile, I"ll be tinkering around trying to get a few words linked!

ExoticHippieQueen, I can't seem to replicate those results (admittedly, I'm using a Mac and Chrome). To clarify, you're not trying to highlight multiple separate words at the same time, right?

And is this happening all in the same Capsule while it is in edit mode?

Simone, I believe that I"m not in edit mode because in order to suggest links you cannot be in edit.  It's just the hub sitting untouched, and then you click on the Suggest Links button.  For instance, I just went into Diamond City Bride and hit the Suggest Links button.  I highlighted the word "bride" and chose a link from the suggestions. Almost simultaneously, the word "stripper" became unhighlighted.  As you can see, if this continues, it will further limit search engines to find my work, so I am rather concerned about it!  I am able to get a few links in, but not many.

I have had this problem, too. Sort of hit my head against the wall trying to re-link words that were "unlinked" by hp in the same paragraph, but finally gave up.

For example, in my "Letter to My Younger Self..." hub, I linked to a  hub about Narnia, but when I wanted to link to another hub about "Middle Earth," the "Narnia" link disappeared...and it seemed like rubber ducks that keep popping up after you've bopped them on the head with a soft gavel. Did not even try with my latest 2 hubs, thinking that trying to create links for words so close together was a lost cause.

I was ultimately trying to choose one word per paragraph, which is a very small amount of words, spaced quite far apart, and I still had the disappearing going on.  Yes, it is like rubber ducks popping back up again after you hit them~

Yep... this has been happening for ages!  It seems to be an attempt to ensure we only place 2 links to our other 'relevant' hubs... where as below HP happily link and promote the totally unrelated hubs of a whole lot of other people (or entities) that I certainly don't follow!  Though on that subject, I often wonder how many times my works appear on theirs! So far, I've only ever seen one of my hubs 'attached' to anyone elses!  sad

Wow, Pearldiver, you really think that is the case?  I used to be able to highlight as many linking words as I wanted.  I am not trying to link to any of my other hubs, just trying to choose from the small black box of magically appearing lists of other hubs on related subjects.  It's making me crazy(er).

I have also noticed this issue on several occasions in the past. It works fine after a few attempts though.
