I've just applied for an AdSense account through HubPages and now Google is asking me to create an ad unit and place it on HubPages. Is that how the process goes? And if yes, how do I place that code?

We take care of all the rest including ad units and ad code, so it will be done automatically.
Thanks for this information. Is there any way to confirm this by looking at the source code of the page? I was able to do that with Google Analytics by looking for the affiliate code for that tool.
UPDATE: My account is still under review, after all this time...
