Do Today’s School Children Still Bully to Establish the Social Pecking Order? Have You...
Bothered To Find Out How Your Child Rank In This Social Hierarchy?
Bullying seems to be worse than ever. I live in South Florida and in the past months here there have been two terrible bullying incidents in the news. One was where a boy was dowsed with gasoline and then set on fire. He suffered serious burns over his whole body and was in the hospital for several months. Fortunately he is out of the hospital now, the family has moved to another school district and he is back in school.
The other case was when a boy beat a girl down to the ground and then stomped on her head repeatedly with his metal toed boots. She was in a medically induced coma for a while. She was brought out of it, has brain damage, and at this point is unable to speak.
My children are grown (thank heaven), but when they were school age I was very aware of who there friends were and how they spent their time. If I suspected anything was bothering them I always got to the bottom of it. Parents have to be extremely vigilant these days - parents on either end of the spectrum. Usually the "bullier" has problems. If his or her parents were on top of these problems maybe such incidents would be prevented.
This is why bullies should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. If a child is BAD enough to bully, he/she should face the consequences of his/her actions! Children can be tried as adults depending upon the crime committed!
YES, indeed. today’s school children still bully others 2 establish social pecking orders. when i was in school, it never worked on me. a friend of mine said he 1 day stood up 2 this bully by suddenly busting his nose right in front of the bully's 'friends'. he said after that, the bullying stopped & he gained full respect from the whole school
I think the "zero tolerance" policies that schools bleat on about are all talk and no action. My 7 year old son with special needs finally snapped and punched a bully in the face, giving him a black eye. I do not condone violence, but sometimes it can be appropriate. Bullies will not stop if they are allowed to continue. I am happy my son is sticking up for himself (he is a bully magnet because of his Asperger's Syndrome). Even in the workplace bullies are everywhere - people need to stick up for themselves or they will be crushed psychologically.
No, it is a learned behavior. Parents need to stop it in the home
Boys will be boys.... GIVE ME A BRAKE! That is just a lazy parent's way to not, get up off their butt and disciplining their child or maybe they are embarassed by their child's behavior?
Are they trying to get attention by their behavior? I think so. If it is ignored, it continuous and it gets worst!
If punishment was aptly applied to bullies such as expulsion, separation from the general school population, and/or detention in a facility either juvenile and/or prison, bullying will stop! Stop mollycoddlying bullies. They are criminals!
Bullying is more egregious now. Children are more insidious regarding bullying. However, schools are establishing a no tolerance policy regarding such behavior. Bullies are psychopaths, pure and simple. These "children" have no conscious regarding their behavior i.e. they just do not care how their actions affect other children.
Many children commit suicide and/or suffer psychological damage as a result of incessant bullying. Bullies are alpha children go wrong. Instead of using their leadership potential positively, bullies elect to use their leadership potential in an evil way. The average bully has a high sense of self albeit negatively.
There is no excuse for bullying other children. Schools should rigorously implement the zero tolerance policy. Children who bully should be given a three strikes, you are expelled rule. In addition to that, there should be documentation identifying them as a bully. Instead of regular schools, bullies should be mandated to attend I.S. school i.e. schools for challenged children. If the bully commits extremely insidious acts which causes irreparably damage to the victim such as paralysis, brain damage, and/or suicide, he/she should be tried and placed in a juvenile detention facility or jail, if old enough.
When the bully is incarcerated in such institutions, there will be karmic comeuppance so to speak. He/she will encounter those who are bigger and badder. He/she will KNOW what it is like to be on the receiving end for once. He/she will learn that IT DOES NOT PAY to BULLY the innocent among us.

Do you think a name and shame website of school bullies - would be a good idea or not ?Should school bullies be made to pay for what they did later in life or not ?

What should be the penalty for school bullies?School bullies should be expelled from schools and placed in juvenile detention or prison. They deserve no clemency nor reeducation whatsoever. If a "child" is old enough to bully another, he/she should be criminalized.

(About a 2+ minute read)“. . . of the people, by the people, for the people . . .”First, as a passing thought, should the conversation with 17 & 18-year-olds begin ‘now’, especially for those that will be eligible to vote, through schools and/or parents, for the upcoming 2024 election? Is there...
