If you had a million dollars to give to charity what charity would you choose and why?

I wouldn't give it to charity; I would use it to create high paying jobs for people who desperately need them. There are some good charities, but nearly all of them are paying a CEO among others a large salary. The research I did many years ago when I was looking for charities to give to was literally disgusting. They get passes to operate tax free as non-profits, while they do help people; the majority of their income usually goes to pay people to head offices of different sorts. I think it is dishonest; if I donate money for a purpose it should be used for that purpose, not to line the pockets of greedy CEOs.

I like dmop's idea. Charity giving is wonderful but the opportunity to actually be a part of the process is so rewarding.

If I had a million dollars to give to the charity of my choice, I would choose to give the money to myself...seeing as how my given name is actually "Charity".

I would divide it up and support Make a Wish, United Cerebral Palsy, and another disabled children's charity.

I feel giving charity to UNICEF is a good option because UNICEF has the necessary machinery required for disbursing aid to the desired target groups. In most other charities the targeted groups do not actually receive the benefits. At least this is the case in India unfortunately.

I would give it to multiple ones. Like My Fathers Heart, American Red Cross and Donate Life! Sadly their are a lot of people who need help and aren't getting that help. Like homelessness and hungry, cancer and no one donating their organs. I wish I had a million dollars to give to charities, sadly I don't.

Wow, that's a hard one... Im not sure if I could pick just one. My son was a premie so I have donated to March of dimes before. My daughter had to go to Riley's children hospital and I have donated to them, as well as breast cancer and cancer research... I donate Plasma regularly to help stem cell and various other researches so ... If I had a million dollars I would put as much as I could in each charity.I can't pick just one.

half to cancer research and half to parkinsons and alzheimers research. These are the things that effect most people, making head way in curing them or developing drugs to help is most importatnt to me.

I would choose to give a million dollars to the Red Cross because they are everywhere in the world and they provide the best assistance for people in trouble.

I would give it to the Jimmy Fund charity, too many people lose others due to cancer.
