There probably are.  My guess is the media won't allow them to be played.

Yes, it would seem that most of them aren't main stream today.  I've always wanted to write these kinds of songs and it seems that every day I am finding more material to do so.  This kind of music is eye opening and I would love to hear more of it.

Folk music was really big in the 60s and early 70s. We had a draft that was taking young men and running them through the meatgrinder in Vietnam with no declared war and trumped up justification (Gulf of Tonkin  resolution). In 1968 RFK and MLK were assassinated, following the JFK assassination in 1963. It was a time of great turbulence. College students had a big stake in the game: Keep the deferment or get drafted. Protest songs and the people who sang them had a natural market. Today, we have all an volunteer military. Only the people who enlist and their families are paying the price. The rest of us go about our business.
Maybe there is some protest in the hip hop music world. I don't know it well enough to comment. Music styles have changed and moved on.

Yes, rap  and hip hop are very different around the world and in many countries, in the Middle East especially, this genre of music is used for protest.  Here though sadly rap and hip hop seen to be only about money.

Perhaps the music industry has just outgrown this type of folk music that was so popular during the Vietnam era. Record companies have probably realized that no matter the conflict or if we agree with it or not, we are still going to support our soldiers regardless.

Maybe.  These songs can be about anything to do with politics though.  They don't necessarily have to be about the war.
