Do you think that the way you are raised dictates how you turn out?
If your parents were not supportive to you, you will not push yourself to succeed in life. If they were always there pushing you to do your best, you will turn out smart. Or do you dictate your own life path.
I think for the most part how you were raised influences how you turn out. I believe this as far as morals are concerned. I am one of three children and we are all completely different even though we were raised by the same parents. My one sibling expects things from others and the other is a procrastinator, while I am a person who gets things done and usually by myself. So, I believe your parents give you a base and you have to take it from there.
I'll go with the Mary Shelley way of thinking and it's more "nurture" than "nature". People aren't born bad, but it really depends on society including parents and guardians. My parents have pushed me on and I've been intimidated, but if you whip a dog too much and don't give him a chance to fight, he'll cower and whimper. I was raised to do my best but eventually I realized I'm not being punished enough if I go wrong. I then just stooped low and didn't care. I'll have to see how far that gets me now I'm finished at college.
So in all, I think we have our parents pushing us on but then we have to be responsible for our own actions. When the pushing slows down and we're not ready for it, we just break down until we keep getting pushed. ^^
Good question. I was "NEVER" given any type of support. As a matter of fact it was the opposite. So, Of course I spent my teen age years thinking I was a useless failure and got into drugs and drinking and the sort. Then one day something clicked in my brain and I said to myself I will do anything it takes to be successful. So, In the end it made me a Very driven person to the point of a perfectionist because I feel I can always do better. That I'm never good enough or have done enough.
I believe its part personality and part how your raised. Two different personalities raised the same will not turn out the same. Yet one personality type raised differently will not turn out the same either.
The way I was raised influenced, yet did not 'dictate' how I turned out. I turned out very different than how I was raised. The nature versus nurture is critical to consider in how you turn out. In my case, although raised by adoptive parents, I had many qualities from my biological parents. As I have grown older I have seen the strong impact of nature. Although it may not be popular to consider, our genetic make-up is a major factor in how we turn out in terms of health, intelligence, character traits, and predispositions. How you are raised often shapes and directs those qualities and faults, but does not totally change them.
I also believe that the time in which you are born, along with birth order are factors to consider in understanding how you turn out. A great deal of attention goes on the nature versus nurture, yet many factors play a part which are not fully understood, such as birth order and time in which you are born.

I recently read an article online and was shocked that most comments sided with loving your spouse more. The article was about loving your spouses more than your kids in order to have a great and healthy marriage. A lot of comments were referencing kids as the reason for marriages ending in...
