Yes! Fried Chicken. I might even eat the skin depending on my stress level. I allow myself this treat about once a month. The other times my comfort food is chocolate smile

Whoo, you know it, Sunshine, nothing better than some good fried chicken every now and then and, yes, that crunchy skin!  And ... more readily available, chocolate!!!

I love fried chicken and homemade mashed potatoes. There is just something about those two that comforts like none other for me. Chocolate cake is another...dear me, it's just so good! smile

Anything pasta, pizza, and believe it or not... a good salad with all the trimmings.

Hi luvtoowrite, oh, yes, the pasta always does it for me and a good pizza too. That is interesting about the salad, but I can see it with good dressing and the works including croutons.

Hi cvanthul, ah, yes, all the bright colors ...I can see how that would be comforting with the pizza/salad combination.

I am in with the fried chicken lovers. I eat fried chicken even if I am happy. Pizza is a comfort food also but only if it is full of cheese that stretches when you eat it.

A good Mac and Cheese made with old cheddar . Then don't forget the chips and dips. Good question Faith Reaper smile

Meat loaf!  Whether I make it myself, my wife makes it, or I have it at a restaurant.  I don't think I ever met a meat loaf I didn't like.  A close second is baked or barbequed chicken thighs and corn on the cob.  Homemade beef stew is a winter time fave.

At home it is ice cream or popcorn. Both are fun to eat slowly. At work it is some kind of chips. I like the crunchiness. All others would be a diet soda, yet that is a drink. Being diabetic I choose that because a candy bar is not a choice and that comes closest to it.

    1. Faith Reaper profile image83
Faith Reaperposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Hi tsmog, yes, there truly is something to hearing that crunch that satisfies. Popcorn is great and ice cream, although no crunch, it is always wonderful. I better watch my sugar intake too, but I do love chocola're candy bars.Wise choices are good.

Definitely rice....with a little butter....or with chili...or with anything.  LOL.  If I really want to comfort myself....vanilla ice cream with a slice of pound cake (can't have this hardly at all anymore.....too much sugar).

Faith Reaperposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Hi Dee, Rice will surely satisfy, especially with those toppings. Ohhh, on the pound cake for sure!!! You are the first to mention it and it is truly comforting : )

My Nana, Mom, aunts and now, Me, make a South Jersey dish called chicken pot pie (chicken bot boi), but not the crust pie, it is more like a type of chicken and dumplings, but it is warm, tasty and oh so yummy.  It has been a family favorite for generations, there is nothing like it...it is our family's favorite comfort food.

Well my answer is really going to sound odd after all of he delicious food that was mentioned here.

My favorite comfort food is Frosted flakes. Yes, i wrote that, but it is. It was always around, I could have it whenever I wanted. It is snack food, for breakfast or even for a meal we called Breakner (breakfast for dinner).
If I was sick a bowl of sugary, crunchy flakes would appear on the tray right beside a small bowl of applesauce. Makes me think of home, Mom and family. That is the comfort in my unique comfort food.

Hi StoneCircle, I am so glad you did write Frosted Flakes!!!  You did bring me back to childhood and that is comforting and mom too.  Awesome!  Thank is sweet about the applesauce too.  I do not think it odd in the least bit.  I have had "Breakner"!

Roast beef with mashed potatoes and fried okra.  Mother always made THE BEST roast beef - slow roasted for hours.  And that gravy... perfect every time.  How can gravy be perfect every time?
