Are Article Submitters guilty of duplicate content?

   Article submitters, that submit to article directories, are found on Clickbank, and maybe elsewhere. My question is if they are a trap that sets up duplicate content or if they are legitimate. Anyone know?

   You have to look at each one individually and see how it operates. Anything that is easy and automated, usually is too good to be true for long. Google has a way of cracking down very quickly on this stuff. Generally I stay as far away from it as I can get.

   Got to agree with Nelle on that one.
   
   There is very little good to be gained by using article submission software - and avoid at all costs article spinning software.
   
   Even with constant supervision, the writing that article spinning software generates is hard to read and very obviously spammy in most cases. Also, the extent to which you actually have to purposefully modfiy each article to avoid content overlap negates the benefit entirely. Between all of the fiddling and costs associated with article spinning, you could have just devoted some extra time to becoming a better writer:-)
   
   I can spot spam a mile away - and i'm not even that great at it. I bet you can spot spam too - and so can your readers. Do yourself and your readers justice by just writing your awesomeness down every day:-)
   
   It's the triumph of the quantity over quality mentality. Aside from the practical implications of a duplicate content penalty etc, it's the principle that really annoys me.
   
   Besides, ultimately we should be writing for people, not search engines:-)

   his reply misses the purpose of article marketing and spinning.
   
   Its (unfortunately?) for backlinks not for readers - the article submission sites are wastelands - not for human eyes anyway.
   
   Article spinners are intended to make dozens if not hundreds of copies - way more than you can humanly rewrite "with your awesomeness"
   
   Its also a matter of competition - if your trying to get into big comp terms with big boy earnings then you use big boy tools.
   
   Such things are far outside the scope of what one needs for Hubpages - Im not suggesting for even one second that such things (spinners) have any place here at Hubpages - cuz they dont.ANd the built in authority and structure of hubpages almost negates any reason to bother with such techniques to promote here - but are invaluable when building your own brand new domains
   
   also there is no "practical implications of a dupe content penalty" ..dont parrot - dupe content is a per domain issue
   
   duplicate or poorly spinned is of no concern - a hundred links from article submission sites add up quickly to some great serps.
   
   I admit the fiddling is annoying, I was never able to get myself to do it - so I gave the $50 software to my virtual assistant ..the costs on the other hand are very minimal for the returns.

         One more point, is manual directory assistance more affective than manual social bookmarkeing or less? Or are both important. People will do that for us.

   Q1- things would be ok - but your own domain wouldnt have crap spun content and most likely not dupe. Your own domain should follow the highest quality standards you can manage.
   
   q2 - IDk - what is "manual directory assistance" ..manual social bookmarking ! never. at the very least try socialmarker.com
   
   - the promotion you are asking about is quite boring and I quickly outsourced most of it. My lengthy response was only because its absolutely wrong to think for a moment that such methods arent incredibly powerful...but they are boring and most writers would be quickly drained by the monotony

   Well as you may know I am an advocate of article spinners and directory submitters. Firstly, if you read a garbled obviously spun article, then the user simply does not know what they are doing or how to use the software. I use article spinners to build unique web 2.0 sites and a mini network. All rank quite well, which is testament to the expertise put into spinning an article.
   
   Article directory submitters when used to bulk submit are useless. The idea is to schedule submissions for different dates and times. Any article (spun or not) submitted in one day to the directories will raise a flag as they are duplicate in time and date as well as the author bio, links, anchor text, content and layout.
   
   So basically, when used properly, article spinners and submitters are a valuable tool when used by the right hands.
   
   As to social bookmarking in one day, manually or with software, then the duplicate content issue will arise and flags go up everywhere. The idea here is not to submit to sb sites the same link, the same description and the same user name.
   
   Everything done on the internet should not leave a footprint of any kind. Therefore, when approached to be unique in every way, then your efforts are rewarded.

      One thing to add is that duplicate content submissions will be de-indexed over time even if they generate a flood of backlinks in the early days, so the need to use quality spinning tools (such as Best Spinner) are obvious.
      
      If you look around there are many variations of these tools available, good, bad and ugly and like all things, it takes time to understand how to use them well.
