Hi Folks
Hubpages overload, anyone else got it and how are you dealing with it?
I have been hubbing for about 12 days now, managed to finish 3 hubs, have 17 in the writing stage and a further million ideas for a hub, I have bookmarked loads of hubs to read, read hundreds already, surfed the forums, spend hours planning my approach and then I change my plan.
It is fair to say that for the last 12 days hubpages has taken over my life; I almost feel like a child in a candy store.
I would love to hear your tips on:
Quality or quantity- I feel inferior because I haven't published many hubs but I sort of understand that quality of my hubs is more important than churning out short advertising led hubs. What do you think? Does it depend on why you are writing ie: money or pleasure?
I am writing a rather long hub on Living with Rheumatoid Arthritis, it spans my experience of it over a period of 14 years. Should I write it as one hub or as a series of hubs? What would you do?
Should I sell out and write hubs I think people want or should I stay true too myself and write solely about what intrests me and where my knowledge is?
I look forward to your guidance and hopefully then I will be able to get on with it.
Thank You
If you are here for the social/learning/community aspect - write about what you are passionate about.
If you are here to make money - write about things that will earn you money.
If you are extremely lucky - the two will be the same.
Me? I sold out ages ago but still write the occasional one for pleasure.
I don't think that's a sell-out. It's just realistic unless one doesn't need to earn money from it.
Wow Mark it looks like selling out paid off. Selling out I guess is a matter of interpratation as you seem to be acheiving so much success.
Thanks for your comment.
I'm fairly new to this, so I'm not sure how useful my advice is. If you don't want it to take over your life then you really will have to decide how long each day you are going to devote to it. Then within that timeframe you are going to have to break it down. eg Research on the web, reading hubs, engaging in the forums, writing hubs, driving traffic (ie marketing what you have written).
I gave myself a month to get used to the system, but now I need to be more serious and disciplined because for me it is about contributing towards my overall income. As much as I would love to spend three days or more on a hub (and I have), that is not the best productive use of my time. Because I can be brimming over with ideas, I limit myself to twenty minutes a time of any one thing, which means I have to be really focussed. I set the timer on my iphone and I stop even if I'm mid sentence. It means I don't get bogged down, I produce more and I can see that I am making progress. I keep rotating the things I am doing all day. Obviously some people would find this extremely irritating but it works for me!
As I say there are some very experienced hubbers who I'm sure will come in with much more useful advice.
That is very sensible advice, I am not sure I can be so self contolled at the moment because I am still in the honeymoon period.
Thanks Again
I joined to make money, but found I enjoy writing so much that most of what I write is for pleasure. I have learned that I love surfing for research and can spend hours researching something so that I can write a comprehensive and detailed hub about whatever I have researched.
I'm sure this will all come in useful one day, but I'm still not making money despite the number of hubs I have.
I have learned all about keyword research too but nothing I have ever written has made me money, even though a lot of my articles are on google's front page. Obviously they are not highly searched items. <sigh> I just keep plodding on, making new hubs, doing keyword research or writing on what interests me. One day I might hit the jackpot. Seems its hit or miss and so far I am missing by a mile.
I'm not making much either. I'm about £17.00 away from my first Adsense payout, and have made just under $5.00 on Amazon.
I am hoping that what the other people here say is true and that once you hit payout, the payouts get more and more frequent due to the fact that hubs can take about 8 or 9 months to "mature" from a search engine point of view.
There is a lot of pleasure in writing about what interests you, I am sure the money will come. There is a line from a film "build it and they will come" I think I will follow that advice and cross my fingers.
Good Luck
To take success on hubpages it need quality and quantity both at a time. That is the key point and hothing else can give you that.

I have been a Hubber for 14 month, but I started to write Hubs about 3 to 4 month ago; my pageviews are 3200 more. I have written 12 Hubs so far; it's not easy to write them -I must think hard...very hard. And I do not know how The TeamHubpages views my Hubs: I do not know how Google Ads reviews my...

Hi,I've signed up and am ready to start making hubs in my specialised subject, but I was wondering what the earning potential of hubbig (if that's a word) actually is. I realise it all depends on how attractive your pages are and how good they are etc, but what are people actually earning? I am not...
