HubPages,
I just wanted to let you know I love the new Profile layout. I loved the first one too. So if you plan on changing it again, I know you'll come up with something equally impressive to the two I've seen.
Suggestion: A clickbox on comments so we can receive email updates of new comments.
Thank you,
Kind Regards
This feature has existed for a long time now. When you edit your comment capsule, it's the second option you can check.
So you have to edit your comment in order to get to the box to check in order to receive email updates of new comments? If this is what you're saying, it's no wonder I didn't know it existed.
Oh, wait a minute. You didn't say edit the comment, you said edit the comment capsule.
So how do I receive email updates of comments on other hubber's hubs?
What I'm saying is really no different than many blogs. You read the comments there, post your own, and check the box so any new comments will come to your email.
That's the function I'd like across all hubs.
You receive email updates when people post comments, by assigning the settings under your profile.
Edit your profile and on the left side, there are a bunch of questions/options/selections for you to set up. Click the ones you want and then SAVE changes.
On the left side of my profile editing screen, the only options that I have are for receiving updates when a hubber I'm following posts a hub, but there's nothing there for comments to their hubs. The only comment function there is for my own hubs, which is the same thing relache was saying.
But I'm not talking about my hubs! I know about that. I'm talking about other's hubs.
I want email updates for the hubs I've left comments on - other hubber's hubs. I already get notification for comments left on my own. After I leave a comment on someone else's hub, I'd like to receive notice when others have left comments after me.
A very common function of most blogs.
To be specific, here's the options you are referring to:
Photo, Username, Location, Email, Allow HP to contact you?, Allow others to contact you?, Email me when authors I'm following publish:, Email me when my hubs get new comments:, If I have earned any accolades, show them on my profile to:, Show stats about praise I've received for my Hubs and via fan mail to:.
So my suggestion would be to add a "Email me when other hubs I have commented on get new comments:" to this Profile Edit section or add a checkbox next to comments that reads: Receive Email Updates of New Comments. You type your comment, you either check the box or not, you click Submit. It's an option and very common one.
So, you're angry at everyone else because your original statement was unclear?
I'm not sure why you interpret anger in my explanatory comment. I'm also not sure why everyone is so nice all across HubPages, but when you come to the forums it seems like everyone just wants to talk down to everyone and offer replies that don't even relate to the original post.
Maybe a discussion style of tone would be more useful than a: Let me talk to you like you're an idiot or a small child.
I'm not talking about a function that's from outer space. Most blogs have this function.
I'm also unsure why other hubbers provide answers in a Report a Problem and Suggest a New Feature section, when both of those imply something that only HubPages staff could possibly do anything with.
Oh, and my original statement wasn't unclear at all. So no need to attack me, which is completely wrong.
I misunderstood this request too, but now I understand what you mean, I agree with you.
Although HubPages is not a blog, the "comments" section of our Hubs operates exactly like the "comments" section on a blog. Except that there's no facility to subscribe to be notified of new comments - which is what you're asking for.
Since that's a normal feature of most blogs, I'm surprised HP doesn't offer the feature.
Your original post was about email for new comments. It did not say for new comments from "Other Hubbers Hubs." So you should have stated it that way.
One thing to realize is that Hubpages is not a Blog! It is a site for hubs/articles as stand-alone writings. A blog is different than the platform of Hubpages.
I have seen a few others ask for a way to receive notification about comments from other Hubbers hubs, but HP has not added such a feature.
I don't know if subscribing to a rss feed from a particular hub would work, but you might try that. I think there is a rss link by comments where you can do this. If this doesn't work, you may have to just go back and check the Hub you commented on.
It didn't occur to me to say it that way at the time because I thought it was obvious what I was saying. And telling me how to say things is not very polite.
Instead of the constant attacking theme that has taken over the forums since the good old days when everyone was nice, sweet, complimentary and helpful, it might've been more useful if everyone had pointed out the distinction that I had to bring up later that it is an option for our own hubs, but not for other's hubs.
And the similarity for me (no more personal attacks - keep it to yourselves) between blogs and hubs is enough of one for that to be considered an acceptable function.
Thanks for the suggestion about RSS readers, but unfortunately I don't like readers. I like email.
#1-I was polite in my response.
I responded to your words here and I in no way made an attack. You are reading into words what you want to read and turning on others. Good luck to you and I will make sure not to help anymore with any questions you may have in the future.
And as you said, HP has not added such a feature, is precisely why I was here making the suggestion. That's what this forum category is for.
I'm starting to think they need to come up with the category, "Come here if you want to be personally attacked."
Sure was different back in 2009. No one was ever as mean as everyone is now.
Sorry, I thought you meant comments you received on your own hubs also.
I know it's a bit less convenient but you can check the hubs that you have previously made comments on under "my account" to see if there are any further comments.

I still think comments should be comments, not discussions, that is the purpose of a forum. Maybe it would be a good idea that every author has a forum automatically made in a widget on there profile page and the topics are always the title of the Hub. That way you can discuss it and always edit...

I am still new to Hubpages and have been enjoying a rather successful start. Thank you to those who have voted my articles up and those few of you who have begun to follow me. But I have noticed one thing of late and maybe it is the way it goes but I think it is disrespectful. I have commented on a...

Everybody is wondering how the team plans to remove the editbots from the stats pages. Apparently they are there to indicate that edits have been made so that writers can check their articles for correctness, but there are many questions about when and if they will be removed as there seems...

There seem to be many hubbers who have no published hubs and are still allowed to comment on other people's writing. While there are some hubbers who are simply new and asking questions before diving in, it seems that some people open accounts purely for the purposes of making comments, often nasty...

I was looking at the new layout on a hub and it made me think that the 'go to last comment' does not really show up as much as it might. I sometimes get comments from people who are not regular HubPage visitors and they might not notice this wording or know where to leave a comment, now.Would it be...

It is important to actually read the hub you are commenting on. It seems that every time I publish a hub I get at least one comment saying something that proves they didn't read the hub. In the future I will be deleting these comments even though they are well intentioned. It will better for your...
