I know there are hundreds of people who use HP as a platform for promoting various referral links, but does anyone use HP solely as their business center?
I suppose it makes good sense; marketing of the site is taken care of, no need to build a website. I have seen lots of people advertising MLM opportunities, however, my question pertains businesses in the more traditional sense, and not those that require one to obtain referrals to make a living.
I look forward to your responses.
Kerry
I do! I do all my work on my Hewlett Packard(HP)!
On a serious note, I would never even think of doing that. You see you don't control HP, someone else does, you are just a user. What if they decide to unpublish your hubs or shut your account or shut the whole website?
That's true. It probably could be done, but I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket. This site is run by someone else who would have final say on what goes on the site. So to put trust in someelse like that would be reckless. I suppose if a person did it as a second income kind of thing, understanding the potential for shut down, would be alright.
Hello Diane;
our posts made it to the board at the same time it seems...so my reply to Ultimate Hubber and yourself would have been the same. Nobody should trust their entire business to somebody else anyway, I agree that would be foolish.
Perhaps my original post was not clear.
Thanks:)

Good morning Ultimate Hubber;
Thank you for your response. I understand your point, but of course, I was meaning as a promotional venue for services such as consulting, or as a promotion for some other type of business, whether it be an online or offline venture. One could always use a blog, but because HP ranks well, the idea does make sense.

You would have to own your website and use HP to promote it along with every other possible way... but not just run it from HP..
Hi LeanMan;
Yes, that makes sense. My main train of thought was to do with traditional business in the first place, where one may or may not have a website. I didn't make myself very clear evidently.
By the way, I enjoyed reading your profile. How interesting.
Thanks
Kez

I used to be totally addicted to HP, couldn't wait to log on everyday to see what was happening, who and what was popping in the forums, what interesting hub made HOTD, and of course, how my stats and earnings were progressing. I looked forward to the rush I got from clicking "publish"...

My HP earnings have bombed thanks to the Penguin, should I jump ship?Does anyone think it would be better to go with Google Adsense rather than the HubPages payment programme?

Hey Staff,Please get your moderation team on the same page. I am beginning to get PISSED OFF at their incompetence.Last time I checked, RSS Feeds are allowed to be ON hubs and must be relevant to the HUB.I am getting sick and tired of moderators telling me to DELETE specific links inside RSS Feeds,...

Just curious, but does anyone have experience with this? How'd you do it? Did you tell Google the article moved somehow or do anything else fancy? Or did you just copy, paste, delete from HubPages, and wait for Google to catch up?Im guessing there might be some duplicate content penalties from...

The 3 month Quantcast data for HP - US Pageviews is shown below. Looks like there has been an average 10% loss of 'Quota', (average traffic) since the start if the year. There is a significant loss in mobile traffic (down more than 10%) with PC traffic up a little. => Has there been and Panda or...
