why is my hub score so low

   Ok, I've got 6 hubs, which are well written, not overly promotional, full of links to other hubs, contain videos, comments, polls and RSS, and amazon. I comment on other peoples hubs, I answer questions, I do SO much on here and my hub score is 60! What's going on guys I can't give any more right now!

      I don't know. If you don't have any warnings on your hubs then I would expect your score to be higher. A bit of a guess here, but if you write say 200 - 300 words on your profile page, I reckon your score may go up.

   Hi
   I read some of your hubs and agree that on the whole they are well written and not over promotional- i wonder if you  could develop your argument a little more- the hub on indian literature was interesting but I thought you could have said a  little more.
   
   It does take a little time to get your score up and it fluctuates- mine is between 95 and99 on a regular basis  but it certainly wasnt like that when i started
   
   keep on producing good quality hubs and your score will rise.

   It is rare for a mature account to have an author score of less than 75 unless there are problems with duplicate content, substandard articles, overly promotional issues, and/or TOS violations.

   I would suggest you to make the hubs a little longer. All your hubs are around 250-450 words that don't help much. Also increase participation in the forum and may be few more hubs can help.

      Yep, they are all way too short.  I didn't see anything longer than about 350 words.  While there is no "right answer" to how long a hub should be, anything shorter than 550-600 words is probably asking for at least a marginal hubscore penalty.
      
      Remember, the premise of HP is quality, original content.  And while part of that is writing well and making the content your own, some of what "quality" means is substantive content, in that you provide more than just a blurb about something, but actually examine the subject in at least some detail.  You can't really examine anything in any detail in 300 words, so the scoring system seems to take that into account.  At least that's my experience of it. 
      
      I have a hub on Did Columbus Discover America that I wrote when I first started in response to a question someone wrote.  I answered it briefly, about 350 words, because it didn't (as I thought) require more.  That hub sat at around 59-68 hubscore.  Then, just to test my theory, I went and expanded on the history of LEif Erikson a little and got the word count up to about 600 and added a couple of videos (which also count as "content").  Now that hub sits in the 80s (currently 87).  Big difference.

   I have a hub that is only just over 200 words. Ok it doesn't have a high score but is currently #4 in Google for its keywords and I get loads of sales from it. And at the time of writing this it doesn't seem to have affected my author score.

   Your latest hub has three external links to your own (promotional) site.  The HubPages Terms Of Service limit is 2 so you may be being penalised for this.  Some of your other hubs also appear to have quite a few external links.

   well I think between us we have answered the question
   
   it always has the same answer
   good, high quality hubs with original information and no more than 2 external links
   left to simmer for at least six months
   add fairy dust to taste
   
   result high score and high hubs!
