    Full lunar eclipse tonight..

"You have two options: Stay up Late or Get up Early! It's been over thirty months since the continental United States in it's entirety has been able to view a total lunar eclipse. Keep your eyes on the sky next Tuesday morning, December 21st. The moon will hit a particular point in its orbiting cycle so that the Earth will be directly in line with it and our sun, giving us a total lunar eclipse. Keep an eye on the top left edge, where NASA states the "Earth's shadow will appear as a dark red bite at the edge of the lunar disk." Unlike a solar eclipse where the corona of the sun in its full brilliance will burn your retinas; looking at a lunar eclipse requires no special eye wear or protection. NASA states that the eclipse cycle is expected to last over three hours and will commence at approximately 1:33 a.m. EST (pay attention to upper left edge) and end just after 5:00 a.m. EST with the moon reaching a vibrant coppery-red coloration at about 3:17 a.m. at Mid-Eclipse. The moon will be completely in shadow from about 2:40 a.m. EST to 3:54 a.m."

Im in a city - so will not likely get a great view, so how about we have a thread where we post the photos we catch of what we do see?

sf, did you see this thread? http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/62552

I think it would be great to have a thread for pics, observations. I think I'm going to make a pot of tea...
this glass of wine is not helping.

the view here right now is very clear, the moon is directly overhead.

I hadnt seen that thread, I was trying real hard to avoid the forums and get some work done!

But I failed, ended up wandering around outside in my pajamas trying to get a good vantage point.

The Sky is just white everywhere, a picture would look just like this box. sad

I got cold and came in ..now I would def love to see some good photos!

Staying up wont be an issue, the nice red haze occurs right around my natural bedtime

the red haze is definitely during some serious sleep time for me.. not sure how I'm going to do. I just walked outside again. the moon light on the pool is beautiful, you can see shadows of the leaves that are scattered on top of the screen and the moon is bright.

It's pouring rain like crazy here in Pasadena . . . has been for the past few days! No way could we see an eclipse tonight. You would get your eyes washed out . . . great evening for people with dry tear ducts.

Overcast here in South Texas (and I'd have to venture from my house because I have heavy tree cover).

it was a celestial art show. I went in my backyard, covered up with a couple blankets and laid on the park bench and watched it until it was total. it was beautiful, I also saw a shooting star, did anyone else see that? the night was so clear here I could see certain constellations.

it was an awesome experience.. very peaceful.
I don't know what my pics will look like. they don't look so dramatic on the screen. I'll upload them later when I'm done working.
