   Be honest. To what degree do you impose your worldview on your kids?

      Although it would be nice to finally have someone who gets my belief I'd be sad I hadn't given him the opportunity to find out what he believed to be right; as far as religion, or lack thereof, is concerned. As far as my worldview? I'm rather vocal, but he is welcome to disagree.

      Imposing anything on your children is not a good idea, it hinders the child from thinking for themselves and formulating their own worldview. Imposing your worldview could be seen as indoctrination, whichever worldview is imposed, whether it be one of religious belief or disbelief.

   Interesting question!  I'd say, Yes, I'd like my kids to have the same religious beliefs as I do - because I don't follow any particular religion.  I don't feel the need to stress out over what any religion wants to impose upon me.  I can read and am more than willing to discuss the Bible and what it means - I'd like it if my kids did the same. 
   
   Only through careful study & serious discussion can understanding be discovered.

   I don't have kids yet, but when the time comes, yes, I'd like them to have the same beliefs as me.

      That's called childhood religious indoctrination and is not fair to the child that you have made that choice for them.

         If we are honest, I think that we would all like are children to share our basic worldview (whether we are atheists or fundamentalists.) That is a different thing, however, from trying to impose it. It's a tricky line to walk.
         
         Of course, an atheist does not think that his or her child's eternal destiny is based on the acceptance of the proper beliefs. This is why it may be impossible for a religious fundamentalist to allow his or her child to simply make his or her own choices.

            Not really that tricky at all.
            
            Either you share your worldview in that what you might believe is what you believe and is not based on any factual evidence, or you state quite emphatically day after day that those beliefs are the god given truths of the universe and are not to be disputed or questioned.
            
            Big difference, yes?
