Over my first couple of days, my Hubber score went up to over 80. Since then, I have published more Hubs, all of which rate over 60, participated in Forums, posted comments and rated other people's Hubs, and this morning I find my Hubber score has dropped to 72.
What's going on?
What do I need to do to get it back up over 80?

Jenny -
Your Hubs have a pattern of linking to the same small group of sites. This suggests you are promoting them. This sort of link-promoting across your Hubs can dampen your HubScore.
I suggest less aggressively promoting those sites in your Hubs, and putting in a wider variety of links instead of just to the sites you have been promoting.

I looked at them...The last two are promoting other websites, so don't know if that could be the reason, but possibly...the first one, there are no links like that, so you probably had a higher score, and then the last two have those other links....that is just my best guess...for whatever that is worth...I could be wrong but others will probably come along and give their opinions as well.
See, I was right, afterall....try putting the links into your profile instead and your score will probably go up.
Ah, OK, so it's links. I guess I shouldn't have started with all the Hubs in one particular topic, instead done a wide range of topics. Sigh.
Does that apply to cross-linking between Hubs within my group as well?
I try to do that so I can give a brief indication what each one is about and how it's relevant to the Hub people are on - the forwards and backwards links within a group aren't very informative.
Will I be penalised for that?
Jenny
Excessive linking to the same external sites, affiliate links (ie. clickbank, etc), or known "bad neighborhoods" can hurt your score. A reasonable number of links to other hubs will not. Your profile page is likely to end up with the highest page rank, so that is a good place to put links to your other sites.
OK, so once I get some other groups going in other topic areas, will my score come back up automatically?
Or is the measure of "excessive" based on having a certain number of a particular link? Because in that case I would have to delete some from my existing pages.
Or is it a percentage rather than an absolute number, and I could fix it by adding more links to my existing pages?
I am just trying to work out the most effective thing to do to fix this fast.
Jenny
The algorithm is complicated, and is modified fairly often. But, having the same link URL repeated within a hub is definitely something we frown upon. Too many links to the same site (but different urls), may be problematic as well. If you want to get a feel for it, I'd suggest that you do a little experimentation. Keep in mind that it can take several hours for your scores to settle back in after changes.
That's helpful, Paul. I'll do some experimenting.
Just to make sure I understood correctly - links to other Hubs are always OK, it's just the external links I need to monitor?
Jenny
Whew, back in the land of the socially acceptable
Thanks for the pointers, everybody!

Earlier I posted that people should go and make links going to other sites that do not belong to you nofollow. Then someone mentioned that if your hubber score is less than 85 then "every link" will be nofollow. But this is not what HubPages says. HubPages says:"If your HubberScore...

I'm thinking the answer is probably yes?If you have hubs that have been deemed "not featured", for one reason or another, will that factor into lowering your overall score/rating as a HubPages member? Example--let's say your overall rating is 75. If 10 non featured hubs become...

I'd like to suggest we get rid of Hubber Score - and perhaps even Hub Scores. They:- are constantly misunderstood;- cause a lot of upset and grief in the forums; and- encourage newbie Hubbers to direct their efforts in entirely wrong directionsFor instance, I've known newbie Hubbers stop...

Another Hubber mentioned this in a forum reply, can someone please give me more info. Does a Low Hubber Score Directly Affect Your Links making them 'NoFollow'?

One of the advantages of having an overall hubber score of 75 or above is that we get 'Dofollow' links on our hubs, which are considered more valuable by Google when deciding search results. My question is, if my hubber score temporarily falls below 75, do we lose those dofollow links? (In other...

I have gone through everything each and every bit of detail on hubpages regarding hubber score, even deleted 8 least performing hubs and checked malicious links, broken links, checked any hubs for more than 2 links to one domain, and checked copied hubs section, filed DMCA complaints, then also my...
