Anyone here know about the different and mainly older versions of PS and specifically why I am loosing color! I have this amazing piece, rich and deep and almost sparkling and every time I save it to upload to the net its either washed out or too dark! I am currently trying other compatible file types then jpg like png but golly is this frustrating!

    I am using CS3 version 10.0.

The png file is close in the preview, has not lost too much depth so I will see how it works when uploaded but I am going to have to change my main file type use if I cannot work out a better way to save these buggars without losing depth and richness of color hmm

To be honest I am not sure what exactly it is I did to get a png with most of the color and depth intact. I just know that I could no longer save as jpg, so whatever it is I did lost the jpg option for saving roll

What I'm thinking is maybe you are choosing a low jpeg quality setting. when you save as a jpeg, try using the highest quality setting.

      Hello there,
I see this is a bit out of date but I think this may help you:-
I don’t think it has anything to do with your jpg. file as such, it is a profile problem. You must use sRGB not RGB or any other profile for Web publications. To explain all here would take too long but try a Google on “Colour Management”and/or for “Adobe Photoshop Colour Management”, this will give you an insight into how this works. Some Browsers are colour managed, some are not. This is why your pictures will look OK on your monitor but not on the Website you are sending them to.
Over simplifying this here but it’s not too difficult to understand. Also try to profile your monitor. A Spyder type device will work very well and are easy to use, but a bit expensive unless you are doing a lot of photo editing. Try using Adobe Gamma, it gets you close but not as good. Not sure if it was included with CS3, maybe only 7 and earlier. I do strongly advise using a calibration device if you can,  it will also give you a better screen print match. Most monitors are set far too bright and it is difficult if not impossible to make all the necessary compensations by eye.

I have only just signed up for “Hubpages” hence no picture, have not even sent a Hub yet !
I was just familiarising myself with the site and came across your question.
      Hope this helps.

This mostly happens to exporting it in a  lower quality. You will sacrifice your great color for s better size, also, not all browsers can accurately display a png, so you would be better to use a GIF or a JPG file. You could tell if it was a Photoshop problem, by previewing the file on your computer, using the correct application(windows photo viewer, etc)
