Anime is a tv show, while Manga is a book, similar to a comic or graphic novel. several anime shows have been made form manga books and vice versa. thats the only real difference

Anime is the animation with moving pictures, colors and voice acting.

Manga is the book version of the story, usually in black/white/ink.

Please note that the Anime and the Manga versions may or may not tell the same story. Full Metal Alchemist for example, the Anime and the Manga part ways and go on different paths in the middle of the story.

Plain and simple my friend.Manga gives you a detailed brief of what's going to happen. It doesn't promote fillers and the lame stuff anime repeats every 20 episodes(that's just a rough figure ok?don't come and attack me now ;p).Anime goes into the details plus the boring,or awesome story line to help develop the series ,so they can make even more money. It's simple man,if you want more out the manga you read, watch the anime.
