In this case I am NOT smarter than a 5th grader and I may not even be as smart as a 1st grader. If anyone gives me advice please keep it extremely simple and make it step by step.
I am having trouble making money on HubPages. I have averaged about $5.00 per month. I would like to at least double that and if I could get up to $20-$30 per month I would be dancing in the street.
Here are my stats. I have consistently had a rating in the mid 80's, sometimes dropping to the low 80's and occasionally sneaking into the low 90's. I have written 69 Hubs and have been a member of HubPages for about 2 years.
Most of the Hubs I write are on subjects that I have some knowledge about and enjoy, however I have written a few Hubs to attempt to make money. After writing a Hub, I link to one of my other Hubs. I also write for Helium so I link to one of my Helium articles. I then include a link to an outside source such as Wikipedia, Yahoo Finance or another high traffic source. I also occasionally link to another Hubber.
Next I promote my article through Shetoldme, IMautomator, Bing, Google and Yahoo. Recently I have also included a brief description of my Hub and assigned it to a group on HubPages. I have also recently tried promoting my Hubs through RedGage as well as FaceBook...with no success.
So what am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated and please keep it simple, remember I may not even be as smart as a 1st grader.
Thank you.
I skimmed through many and found them to be too short...they need to be increased with the photo under the first 100 - 150 words. The first text capsule should be alone then the second text capsule can have a photo capsule next to it.
The Amazon products cannot be in the first text capsule and you should have 1 product to each 50 words of text. check the learning center on the bottom of the page for more tips.
Also try writing product reviews on Amazon products.
I am impressed that you are making $5. In my 3+ years here I have earned $0. I long ago decided that my activity here will have to be just for fun.
I am no longer adding modules for products, as the Hub people deactivated my most popular hub. I am not sure why, but I think it may have been that I promoted a particular book. The hub is about friendship, and the book is about how family and friends aided during a man's terminal illness.
I didn't see any mention of keyword research, SEO or on page SEO. You might do some research on these things and incorporate them into your hubs.
If you are linking to Helium in every hub you will run afoul of HPs rules on over-promotion.
The only stats you need to worry about are that your hubber score (on your avatar) is above 75 and each hub is above 40.
Outgoing links are of very limited value, except between your own hubs. I typically include several links to other hubs of mine that are pertinent to the subject. Traffic sources show that I am getting 50-100 visits from within my own subdomain each day; the obvious conclusion is that readers are using these links to look at other work of mine (along with the ads on that work).

Over the past few months my SEO has definitely improved, adsense is getting there and the HP Ad revenue is steadily increasing, however my Amazon sales are still in the cellar with no signs of life lately! I have had a sporadic sale here and there over the past few months but nothing even close to...

I know it's been asked before. I've even asked it before. But is there a better and easier way to bring in links to a link capsule from another hub. It'd make linking series so much easier. I spent about 2 hours yesterday linking an old series that I have together. It included about 20 or so hubs...

Hub with over 800 words of content. My own photos. A video added. 3 Amazon Products that are hub content related. A whopping hub score of 49

I have been playing with some different layouts as to where I have been putting the photos, amazon ads, and etc. I don't have a lot of traffic. I'm starting to learn about marketing, keywords, and SEO. Even so, I don't have a way to judge how people are perceiving the hubs as far as eye appeal. You...

A very kind soul noticed a month ago that I need to learn how to break up my text with photos or something between the paragraphs when my text is long. She explained how to do it. I tried and couldn't grasp it. Then I misplaced or accidentally deleted her email -- so I haven't...

Published a hub on Oklahoma (please don’t get started on how it might be too generic – I had fun doing it). It became the template for my following hubs on Arizona and New Mexico. The Oklahoma one published just fine. The Arizona and New Mexico ones are now Not Featured due to Quality....
