      It really depends on the type of person that you're looking for. If you're wanting something serious, I would recommend staying away from bars and like places.
      Personally, I've knew my girlfriend for almost ten years before we started dating. She was one of my best friends. It was the best decision I ever made.

      Looking for men and women is always a bad habit. They should come to you spontaneously. Going out with your friends to places where you're likely to meet other people is always a good thing, but it shouldn't necessarily be with that intention. I agree that bars and discos aren't the best place to meet the love of your life, yet it can still happen. You never know. You can meet the "man/woman of your dreams" in a fitness club, in a supermarket, in college, cooking course, on the street while you're throwing out the garbage, you name it.  But the chances of actually meeting the right one increase when you relax, don't look and let yourself be pleasantly surprised.

         and the more you work on yourself, like becoming more positive if your not, or losing weight, or getting a job, just overall improvements to make yourself happy i think will increase your chances, for who wants to be with someone depressed all the time. and if you are depressed you may not want someone else depressed. just a thoguht

      But...you can meet a man at one of those hardware stores or the grocery store.
      
      A man can meet a woman coming out the shoe store. Ha..but that could be kind of creepy.

    I find men everywhere I go. Restaurants, through friends, bookstores, the men who work in nightclubs, out for a walk, getting coffee. Never at a grocery store... The best one was when he came to my house to hook up my cable and internet.
