Has anyone ever known a cat with stomach cancer, and if so, how long have they survived?
Hi there Wentworth35..yes, I have heard of it...We've had several cats who developed a form or another of stomach cancer. Is your kitty Feline Leukemia positive? Internal cancers; particular stomach, intestinal and liver are common when a cat is FIV +..this is a difficult situation to deal with. Have you a prognosis for your kitty, by your Veterinarian? Some can live a while..given extra special care and sensitive diet. Try Sensitive Stomach made by Science Diet..anything somewhat bland and easily disgestable...ask your Veterinarian. Always be aware of your kitty's well being, overall comfort level and physical condition. Have your Veterinarian sit down and talk w/you about your kitty and how best to help him/her. My best wishes and good thoughts for you and your little companion. Kathy
Hi, no the vet has said nothing about my cat being Leukemia positive. She just said he has a large tumor in his stomach. She has prescribed steroids, which she says can sometimes extend a cat's life, although not always. He does not seem to be in any pain, and seems as happy as he usually is, so we have decided not to put him through an operation, as he is 15, and the vet said he would be unlikely to survive it.
Hi Wentworth..I am so sorry to hear this news. The most difficult thing in my life is when my companion kittys have health and life threatening issues. It is devastating to me. Yes, steroids do help to lessen the impact, for a while, of such conditions...I've had several on this therepy to ease the situation and prevent discomfort. It does help for a while. That your Veterinarian suggests not to do surgery is telling; and I am extremely sorry about this. Just love your kitty and be sure that you have as much quality time with him. 15 is a very nice, long life for a cat..so he has been well loved and cared for. You might consider another opinion or contact a teaching Veterinary hospital at a University if there is one near...some things are amazingly possible ... I don't want to give false hope but, if you have questions; it is your perogative to seek advice. Much regards and empathy. Kathy

My son's nine-year-old kitty will lose her eye in a few hours because she has a tumor. The opthamologist said it looks local, rather than systemic. Has anyone had this with their cat and had the cat live a long time after?(I need a happy-ish ending story, and don't want to see any...

Why won't my cat just pee in the litterbox like a normal kitty? My cat has a litterbox. He poops in it faithfully, but never pees in it. He pees in the corner of the kitchen near where his food is. Sometimes he pees in the corner of the bathroom.
