I had stopped using Reddit when someone stalked a hubber and made her life really miserable. I decided to try again based on some of the success stories I have been reading.
I once received a mail from someone stating that I had placed my link in the wrong section so I need to know how to use Reddit because I am not seeing enough categories for some of my stuff. Where would I place eduction and health articles?
Reddit is tricky. It has its own special culture and etiquette, and woe to you if you don't obey 'em. I'm not active in the community, so I'll defer to someone who is. I know we've got quite a few!
Thanks Maddie, I know this is a bump too...lol
I have used reditt.. But I really didn't understand the algorithm they follow to send traffic. The traffic flow is not very steady and some times even a good quality post doesnt get any traffic whereas I have seen many poor contents receives huge traffic. It is really confusing
You can post your links in a subreddit called TheHubHub - set up to promote hubs so there are no squeals of indignation when you post your own links
Reddit...what shall I tell about them...these ludicrous idiots from their joke of a community will ban every other users sooner or later. I was banned thrice because my 'reditts were not doing well'!
Never used them. If there's a lot of effort involved in creating any social bookmark, it's not worth it. I think Reddit is the kind of place where promoting your own Hubs is against the TOS, so if you're going to do it, you have to disguise them with lots of other links.
Cardisa, you can post links to the education, health and hubhub subsections. But be wary of doing more than two links per week as I have not been allowed to do more than 2 per week since forever..........
I didn't know about TheHubHub, so I've been posting in Reddit's YouShouldKnow category. I've never had any problems with being bumped. YouShouldKnow is about everyday knowledge, but it allows a lengthy article. That's why I chose it and use it regularly. I don't remember if I've tried to submit more than two hub links in any one week. I'll try TheHubHub for my next hub link.
I got on Reddit about two weeks ago and said, "DUH,HEY!" I haven't ventured back. Not yet. I find it very confusing, plus there's nothing to walk me through the process. Same with StumbleUpon. I don't get it, so I just write. Jeez!
Digg is pretty much dead... They killed their community after the rehaul.
Thanks, jenubouka. I can give it a try. Do you have a referral "address" I can use when I sign up for Digg? It's the least I could do for your idea.
No, no referral it is just a site where you can "digg" or submit a link you like from anywhere from the web, hubs including. I don't get much traffic from there when I actually remember to digg it but it is really easy to do it.
What I like is learning the updates of stuff going on there all on one site, and the comments crack me up.
Let's just say, a little less lady like over there, which I love.
Have you checked out Red Gage? That is pretty simple to do, again when I remember to do it.
Hi Guys, sorry to take so long to respond, been busy.
@Luis, for the life of me I cannot find these subsections you talk about..lol
@Jenubouka, I too have a Digg account but I have seen where hubbers talk about extreme traffic surges from Reddit. I could do with the views because it means more money.
Thank you for bringing up Reddit, Cardisa. I am enouraged. jenubouka, thank you for your suggestions for Digg and Red Gage. You have inspired me to set aside more time to understand these sites. I now am doing way better with Google and automatically use the keyword tool. I have to admit that those keywords have helped out a lot, and I'm comfortable when it comes to using that tool. In fact, it's kinda exciting. WooHoo! I believe there is hope for me. It's just going to take more time for me because I'm not like these tech-savvy youngsters! If you are willing to learn, I guess that's the ticket.
If you want to see any success at Reddit you need to be an active member of the community. It is not a place to just go and post your own work. You need to be active in your subject if you want to see any results.
it is all about 'Comment Karma' and 'Link Karma' which is what you need you need to acquire if you want anyone there to take you seriously. Best if you have links that are off the chart being interesting, inspiring and or funny and remember that they should not all link back to the same platform.
Most important is to know what 'sub direct' you want to participate in.
People are generally nice over there and more than happy to help you get more comfortable using the site.
Exactly, this is right. If you come across as if you're selling something, they will definitely smell something fishy and downvote you. But if you're genuinely trying to help or add to the conversation, you'll come out ahead.
Here's a comment I just received from some guy about my Reddit article.
"but you're totally retarded
stop writing articles."
That sums up my experience over there. I just can't quite dumb down enough...
Mark did you just make that up? lol
Sorry if you didn't...I don't know when to take you seriously!
Fair point, but really I didn't. Got it this morning.
I keep saying that I can't believe that I thought working on the internet would be more peaceful than the office, as it turns out, there are some really nasty people in cyber world.
Anonymity. Office life is bad, but at least you all have to face each other mostly.
However, ignoring and logging off, or even changing ID's is a lot easier on the internet.
That particular comment didn't bother me. If someone I respected said I was rubbish at this game - that would be different.
I didn't understand the algorithm they follow to send traffic. The traffic flow is not steady and some times even a good quality post doesn't get any traffic.

This site has been suggested as a way to get traffic. I spent a few hours, which turned into 3 days, to figure out how to navigate it. It appears to be a site about links, not really content, but they get angry if you post links? What am I missing? I had to go on under 3 names, but I tried to leave...

Well, I hope I am posting this in the right spot. I've been on Hubpages now a little over 3 months, and am enjoying it thoroughly, all the writers here have been great. I have done a lot of research on increasing traffic to my hubs, and mostly people seem to collectively agree that to really boost...

Well, folks. Between Twitter and Pinterest, I did 50+ posts today; both my hubs and a whole bunch of other Hubber's hubs. We will see what the results are... Hope springs eternal...

I heard that Reddit has a lot of traffic and users and wondered if anyone can attribute increased audience from using Reddit.

Is anybody else using Reddit as a source of traffic to your Hubs, or own websites?I have always known about Reddit but just signed up for an account, and posted a link to on of my websites. Now I am far from a marketing guru and a mediocre writer at best, but I just posted that link on Reddit about...
