I found one of my Barbie Doll articles scraped in its entirety and placed on someone's blog. I've determined the blog owner and sent them a "cease and desist" note but it's one of those sites that creates writing platforms for people (blog.com) and I am doubting I'll see any help on this .. haven't so far, anyway.
Does HubPages do anything about stolen articles and if so, what? (When I've had this problem on Suite101, for instance, the Suite people get involved and generally get results.
What do I do?
Thanks,
Teri

Basically as the content is ours,it is our responsibility, but if you need any further help, loads here can help because we are all fed up chasing down stolen content.
Personally, I just file dmca with Google for every one I find now. You send them the copying site, and let them worry about who the site owner is etc.
This form is great - https://support.google.com/adsense/bin/ … t&rd=1
Hi IzzyM, If only 90% of the contents from an article has been copied, can we still file DMCA? Does Google charge for the service? Thanks.
Only 90%!! You are kidding right? They might as well have taken the other 10% for all the difference it will make.
No-one has the right to take any of your article at all without your express permission. Not have they the right to take your article and re-word (spin) it.
If someone took 10% of my article I would be annoyed, but probably let it go...any higher and they are at it!
No Google do not charge for the service, and it doesn't even matter if they run adsense or not. Google can remove their content from the index.
Thanks, Izzy, I'll take a look at that.
I know this shouldn't upset me ... I've had it happened a bunch of times ... but it does because I really put a lot of time into my articles. Ah, well, I suppose if they're being stolen, someone must really like them ... ))
Have you tried contacting blog.com as well as the author? They are the host so they have some responsibility. They don't make it easy to contact them, but I did find this form:
http://support.blog.com/index.php?/Tick … RenderForm
I've actually found it easier to get work taken down from article directories and free blogging sites, than from self-hosted blogs. I usually contact the service, not the author.
As Izzy says, if they have Adsense, you can complain to Google. It can take a few weeks (which isn't surprising, just think how many thousands of complaints they must get every day), but they do take action.
I did contact the site owner, with info I found on "Who Is." I've done that other times with other thefts, some work, some don't. This particular scraper site is called Blog.com. I've heard nothing back from them, gee what a surprise.
I also got a note back from Google that they checked the blog, it doesn't have Google ads so there's nothing they can do. Funny, this is the first time Google's been on top of that, getting back to me within a couple of hours. I had one happen that they didn't follow up for at least three months!
You must have sent in the wrong form.
Use the form I linked above.
I have just this minute received a reply from Google after I made a complaint a week ago -
In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we have completed
processing your infringement complaint. The following webpages will be
removed from Google in a few hours:
hxxp://proyectocalera.com/gold/buy-an-asscher-cut-diamond-ring-online.html
Please let us know if we can assist you further.
I broke the link. That site will still be there, but Google is about to remove it from their index. There are no ads on that site.
On the subject of article scrapers, can you tell me how you found out someone had your article? Is there a certain software, maybe? Thank you
I do random spot checks, either with my name or lines from my articles. One of these days I'll go high-tech and try copyscape. I am learning more about it now.
It really saddens me when this happens because writing and publishing well-written and researched articles has kept my spirits up during two years of unemployment (and hundreds of job applications). To have people steal from me is one more slap in the face.
TheMagician, copy a line or two from any of your articles and paste it into the google search bar. Any site with that same text will come up, along with other sites who merely use some of the same words, but you'll know the difference. <3
I think anything that doesn't pass Copyscape you can file DMCA, plus look for signature parts in the text like references to Hubpages and you specifically.
This is the DMCA form for copyright removal from google search results (which is what I use when the site doesn't have adsense):
https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools … pli=1&
(I think) you need a webmaster tools account use it though.

Looks like another content sniper is at work, stealing our shizz from HubPages. This so called "music news" site has sniped at least four of my Hubs and it looks like there are many other pieces pinched from my fellow music Hubbers as well. If you've written any Hubs about music (any kind...

I can't seem to find an answer for this in the learning center. I have a large set of articles I've been writing for a while + some time on my hands to dedicate to Hubpages for the next couple of months. Would publishing 10 hubs a day benefit or disadvantage me, both in terms of hub score /...
