I saw this debated on first take on espn a while back, but i want to know what you guys think.  Do you think that  Tim Tebow gets the most unfair scrutiny than any other quarterback in nfl history?  Or any player history i might add?

He isn't just the quarterback everybody expect him to be. As long as he wins a game, then it should be good. Since a QB is like a driver, he is the one who gives direction.
He is controversial because of his belief and his style.

Both radical and semi-radical Christianity tried to hold him up as some sort of symbol, and activist atheists got to crap on him when "God abandoned him" after a few good games. Everyone else is just tired of religion getting jammed into everything these days, so a lot of them jumped on the haters bandwagon, and there you have a quarterback getting attention that is far greater than what is warranted by the level of his play.

Religion and politics always work like that.

Real football fans, as in, people who like the game for the game, talk about him in the light of the game. IMO, he's a promising young quarterback who's got stuff he needs to work on to be great. He's got the physical tools, now he's got to acquire some experience and wisdom, and of course, prove he's got the brains for greatness.

I don't know if he is the most criticized, but the scrutiny for his play is definitely deserved and is not unfair. Tebow is one heck of an athlete, but he is not a Quarterback. He would be better off as a fullback or tight end. He has been in the league long enough to adjust to the speed/differences of the NFL and seems he simply can't. If a team primarily runs the wildcat, he might be able to do better, but in my opinion, he will never be a good Quarterback.

I agree on the tight end thing. He'd be awesome. He'd know how quarterbacks think, too, which would give him an extra edge.

I'm hoping Sanchez's lackluster performance last makes it Tebow time.  I don't know why, but I love watching him play.

Me too... Tebow has been a phenom since his high school days... I wish my Bears would have taken him. I believe he is a better QB than Cutler and better character.  Cutler shows no emotion and that comes off wrong to us fans.

He got Denver to the playoffs and a first round win. It wasn't always pretty, but it was fun to watch. I'd like to see him at least play a few series to see if he can get a rhythm.

Could it be more obvious Tim Tebow was a Woody decision? Rex Ryan has been saying all the right things, but it’s clear he has little use for him. Actions always speak louder then words.

If you want to see Tebow play QB, start praying he gets traded.

No, that would be Sean King, the best quarterback ever to never play. They want to dis Mark Sanchez. No matter how good you are, you need blockers.

If that bomb Tebow threw to Jason Hill that was right in his hands would have gone for a TD like it should have, maybe Tebow would have stayed in for more plays.

Tebow is dangerous. Sanchez is average.

The Jets are only a game out of first and they have Indy at home. The Patriots travel to the Seahawks. It could be a tie after this week's game, but the Jets better do something drastic with their offense if they want to have any hope of beating the Patriots.

      Many "If's"

Watch for some trade this week . ..  TO tweeted last night he is available but I think Rex has nixed that one already. Not too many free agents to pick from but Im feeling some trade coming.. or should I say Hoping for something big and bold.

As they say there are no moral victories but the Jets and what little there is of them showed plenty of heart last night.

Not many trades are made during the season, but you never know.

Hmmm, something big and bold. I got one for you. You know how the Jets just love former Steelers receivers? Like Santonio and Plaxico.

How about Mike Wallace for the Jets first-round draft pick? Makes sense to me. Jets need a shot in the arm (whether it belongs to Sanchez or Tebow), right? So you get one of the best receivers in the league (only Jerry Rice and Randy Moss had better stats in their first 3 years) and the Steelers get something in return, which they may not otherwise if they can't sign Wallace to a long-term deal.

Dont like it . .he aint got the sexy the jets need right now. Then again I was never a huge lover of Santonio  .. that was till Bray and Brad were shipped out. Then the connection between Sanchez and Tone made me forget a little.

I say bring Braylon back. Bring sexy back Rexy its your only chance at this point.

And no @PaulEdmonton Tebow is not the answer.  For all the show off flexing he does, it is so not at all attractive. I'm just waiting patiently till the media starts making a big deal about his signing with 2 talent agencies . . Or the Oct Vogue spread.

Ah yes this is all while maintaining selfless image!

Braylon caught 1 pass for 10 yards against the Panthers last game. But the Seahawks could use a quarterback.

Oh, this would be great. Reunite Pete Carroll with Mark Sanchez. I think the Seahawks would have to throw in something else, though. Like Marshawn Lynch.

    Alphadogg16posted 11 years ago

That wouldn't be an even trade on Seattle's part, Lynch is a proven beast, I do not think Sanchez is very good, as for all the QB's that come out of USC,  all of them come with so much hype and don't live up to it.

I'm trying to make wavegirl happy here. She thinks Sanchez is the hottest thing since the sun, so she's not going to give him up for chump change. And she wants Braylon real bad. And she wants a big trade. The only thing you'd get for trading Tebow is T.O., and he's a free agent.

@dontaytte - the question says "unfairly" criticized, Tony Romo's criticism is well deserved, He's grossly over rated and 8 times out of 10, when the game is on the line or really counts, he's going to choke.

Te-bow.  Te-bow.  Te-bow.  Here's to hoping he plays a significant amount.  The owner walks down to Rex's office.  Says, "Rex, the offense is terrible.  There's something about Tebow.  It can't get much worse.  Let's play him."

Rex, "$%$#, can't believe he just told me which QB to play.  Guys, go full bore on the spread. Let's show him how $%#$#@ stupid this is."

Tebow plays three quarters of horrendously bad football, but by the grace of you know who, the Jet's find themselves down by three points with three minutes to play.

Tebow throws a hail Mary on fourth and long and miraculously it's caught on the 20.  Thirty seconds left on the clock, the play breaks down.  Tebow scrambles 20 yards.  Runs over a linebacker and the safety and the nose of the ball clips the endzone line. Jet's win.  Sanchez hangs his head in disbelief, then asks for a hotdog.

Just another day on the field for Tebow and crazy speculation ensues.

There is nothing about him that 'does it' for me.

Going to be hard for me to watch the Jets this weekend.

Now if you want to find me some pics of Brady Quinn . . . My eye has been on him since the Browns picked him up in 2007. Maybe he never lived up to his glory days at Notre Dame, but in my eyes he is one hot hottie!
      http://s4.hubimg.com/u/7263819_f248.jpg

Quinn will be making his first regular season start at quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, after Matt Cassel was ruled out because of concussion.

Yeah, Mike Golic has a crush on him too.

All Brady has to do is hand off the ball to Jamaal Charles without fumbling, and the Chiefs will win.
