In view of the gang rape to that woman in India who later died of her injuries, how can we be so awful to women?

Who is "we"?  Do you have a frog in your pocket?

Why should men be ashamed by those who by their actions prove themselves to be less than men?  They have fallen far short of the mark for manhood, or humanity for that matter.  Why project their failures on others?

Repulsed?  Yes.  Angry?  Absolutely.  Ashamed?  No.

It isn't just the atrocities done to this young woman men have demonstrated our heartless actions throughout the ages. Was it not Herod that put to death numerous babies in an effort to stop the birth of Jesus the Christ? I believe in the conflict between the Spartans did not that ruler put to death the women of his soldiers who were having relationships with in order to get them to fight even harder against their enemies.

If we are not guided by any principles then frankly there is nothing I see we won't do. We kid ourselves with thinking we can just be a good but in the computer vernacular it has been said "garbage in, garbage out!"

I wonder how the whole awful event unfolded. Perhaps like this:

There were several Muslim adults wandering from town to town with nothing to do. They had become increasingly bored. Eventually they procured mind altering substances to relieve themselves of depression induced by the consciousness of their miserable conditions. They had no way to earn money. No mothers to love or guide them, no fathers to mentor them. No sisters to protect. The love in their hearts had been crushed by something that had gone very wrong in their desperate lives. They came upon a poor Hindu girl from a neighboring village. Her name was Tara. They looked upon her and called out some demeaning comments. They thought she would hide her face beneath her cotton veil and continue walking. Instead, she told them in Hindi to shut the f up. Her cavalier response gave them the terrible excuse to put this audacious female in her place. Her lack of regard and respect for their presence enraged them. Then, rather than submit to the attempted gang rape, she fought back. She fought for her own body and her right to have command over it, with all the strength she possessed.  She could have given in; perhaps they would have allowed her to live, in that case.
Instead, In the awful end, they killed all they hated in their own lives as they took Tara's. They preserved not, even their own beings... for they had nothing to lose.

    Dear A. O.
In general, Men in the world are not like these men in this very isolated case. So, why do you pose this question as "We?" as in "...how can  W E   be so awful to women?"

So, in conclusion...Speak for yourself, A.O.
