Now I do have a few of these in my home but wow..........
CFLs are an interim thing. LEDs are safer, last even longer, work better with dimmers and use even less energy. Just waiting for them to become more readily available.
The two are pretty much the same thing.
Haven't looked lately but last I heard the LED's were really pricey.
I just bought some off of eBay - $25 for 5.
"Affordable" and "available" are usually tied together. They become available, more people buy, the price drops and more stores carry them and the cycle repeats, Positive feedback.
Yep. Still quite spendy, and if you buy them in the stores they are quite a bit above that.
Not worth it now, IMHO. The only reason I bought those was because they are on all day long in my house, and are the little candleabra style - those don't last long at all and I wanted something that would last.
Didn't work, though - they are on a ceiling fan and the dimmer has burned them out even though I always run them at full brightness. Might stick some in my camper (same style) as they will take very little current to operate and won't discharge the battery that way.
We have a few CFL's and they are ok but I still like my good old light bulbs. Especially the three way you can stick in floor and table lamps.
No, I meant 'affordable' and 'available' amount to the same thing.
