Adblock and Amazon question.

   According to this article, at least 61 million people have downloaded Adblock Plus.
   
   20% of its users are from the United States (over 12 million) and they matter the most when it comes to making money on Amazon. This article was published 8 months ago so the number is probably much higher now.
   
   Does HP have any plans to stop adblock from blocking Amazon modules on our hubs? Or do something to the Amazon modules to prevent it from being blocked?

      This is a problem for any site that has ad revenue as part of how it works.
      Unfortunately, there really is no way for us to control what content is blocked by ad blocking software.
      
      Some sites have recently even resorted to blocking browsers that are blocking ads, so an ad blocker blocker, but that ends up being somewhat hostile to readers.

         The Amazon modules that other revenue sharing platforms like Zujava and Squidoo use don't seem to get blocked by adblocker.
         
         It's quite a bummer because HP has an awesome money making opportunity from Amazon.
         
         Let's hope the visitors who visit our hubs don't have adblock installed.

         Matthew, I have an adblocker installed.   It blocks all ads on HubPages.  I just checked, and it does NOT block the Amazon ads on Squidoo.
         
         So it looks like there must be a way around it - and if Squidoo can do it, surely HubPages can do it too.

   People have the option of using adblockers. I do not think there is much we can do about that.

   In the long run I think the answer is to make advertising not annoying so people don't block it.
   
   I can't say that this is what is happening.  I am often tempted to start blocking myself.

      If you have adblocker plus installed, you won't see any ad to block at all. Adblock also blocks adsense ads.

         Yes I know.  That was my point. If they see annoying ads, they upload blockers. Tragedy of the Commons etc.

   I don't think getting into an battle trying to circumvent blockers is necessarily a great use of resources. We'll end up looking like Examiner.com.

   But if much smaller sites, such as Zujava, have found a way around this, it makes sense for HubPages to explore this as well.
