What are capsules? And what do I do with them?

Proceed to http://hubpages.com/hubtool/create/name/ and experiment at will. Capsules are modules where one places content. They'll show up on the second page. smile

I seriously have no idea what you are talking about. Pretend I don't know anything.

Examples of a capsule are:  a text box, a box for a video link, a box for a photo upload.  So a capsule is how you would add content, depending on what that content was.

When you create a hub article, each little section is called a capsule. You can have a photo capsule, text capsule, video capsule, etc. There will be capsules on the page already that you can fill, or you can add some of your own.

Hi Peter and welcome to HubPages. If I pretend you do not know anything, then I will point you to the Learning Center and tell you to click on the circle to the right that says "Beginners Start Here".

Capsules are boxes for text, photo, video or other things, such as  polls. A capsule will break up your article (which we call a hub). Hubs with one long unbroken text are hard to read, so HubPages has installed the option of using capsules, which create a much more visually pleasing and easy to read article.  Each capsule can have a sub topic in bold so the reader can easily see what the text in that capsule is about.

You will find the Learning Center by clicking on the Help tab on the top of each page over to the far right. Once in the Learning Center, click on Beginners Start Here.

Might I also suggest you roam around and visit profile pages of other hubbers (writers) and view their hubs (articles) to see how capsules are used?

Good luck to you and have fun learning.

      Thank you.

I apologise for my earlier tone, but I do tend to get frustrated when people assume that you have the same knowledge as they do. Having had to teach my fellow workers how to use specific programs, I appreciate the need to spell everything out step by step.

I can understand that, Peter. When I had to train co-workers I always took the view that I need to start at the beginning and not assume that they know how to proceed unless given specific steps and reasons. Hope I did help you.

Please also understand that we get a lot of people joining HubPages, then expecting to be spoon-fed step by step because they're too lazy to sit down with the Learning Centre and do their own study.  The person who brushed you off may just have spent too long helping one of those people!

Here's a good overview of Capsules:

Darkside has written several other Hubs which will give you a good introduction.
