I've been editing all my recipe Hub that transferred from Squidoo. There has always been a print option on the lens which was great for people viewing the lens and for me to print out to give to people. I can't find a print option for HP. Has anyone come across this?

Web browsers let you print any page.  Why would a web page need a separate control for this?

Because with the print option you get only the recipe in a print friendly form, not the whole page with all the unnecessary stuff. All you have to do is click the print button. Using the file option, you have to highlight only the area you want printed and then click print selection only.

Most recipe sites seem to have a print button on each recipe. It's something that people who search the Internet for recipes are used to, so many might not have even thought of looking for a 'print friendly' option on their browser.

@Judy: We used to have a print button among the share buttons, but, from what I gather, HubPages uses such features very sparingly in order not to slow down page load time--if a feature is deemed ineffective or not absolutely necessary, it goes or isn't implemented from the start.

    Thanks Jayne
It is too bad it isn't there any more. Most of us from Squidoo were so happy when that option  was added to our lenses. Many of us have a large number of recipes and I wish they would put it back. I'm going to put it into the suggestions area.

Maybe it could help if you point your visitors to their browser's print friendly button if they want to print the recipe.

I agree that a recipe print option would be highly beneficial on HubPages. Virtually every food blog has a print plugin of some sort these days, and it's hard to compete with that.

I second (or fourth or fifth) the request for a print button for recipes, but only for hubs that use the recipe ingredients and instructions capsules. I agree with Relache that there's no need more need for a print button on a recipe hub that doesn't use the formatted recipe modules than on any other hub. It seems to me that most of the capsules are designed with printer friendly formatting in mind already.

However, my preferences both as a target audience member and, therefore, as a recipe author is for recipes that start with detailed step-by-step instructions with helpful tips and explanations, large, step-by-step photos and relevant ancillary information (such as a sidebar about choosing organic vs. conventionally grown bananas in my vegan banana walnut chocolate chunk ice cream recipe), followed by a print-friendly, simplified and more concise recap of the recipe in the standard recipe format that includes a single, half-width photo of the prepared recipe and is intended to be printed.

I'm an avid cook and do a lot of recipe searches online. When I find a great recipe it's enormously frustrating to have to do a print preview to select just the page that contain the formatted version of the recipe and discover that it starts in the middle or toward the end of a page and, therefore, spans two printed pages with unwanted content above and below, which makes it harder to read when I'm trying to follow the recipe.

So I think making it possible to have a print button that would allow just the recipe capsules to be printed would add a lot of value to our recipe hubs by providing a more satisfying experience for our target audiences.

Thank you for also posting on the Suggestions Post. All my recipes aregoing to use the recipe format or will as soon as I get to them.

Judy has started a thread suggesting a print option for recipes on the HubPages New Feature Suggestions forum: http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/124753#post2637062

Thanks, Jayne! I'll share my thoughts there.
