I decided to check how the NEW Hubscore is related to traffic, after the changes to Hubscore to remove traffic as a contributor. Below is the result. Clearly there is a very poor correlation, and some of my best performing hubs have Hubscores from 65-75. My take from this is that what Google likes is poorly aligned with what HP likes. What now? How to please Google and get more traffic?
Hubscore is the embodiment of HP's belief that it knows better than Google what readers want/like/need.
Did you include factors such as the number of searchers, amount of competition and where the traffic is coming from?
Having read a few forum posts by staff, I think HubPages' aim is to be one step ahead of Google. The belief is that what HubPages likes today is what Google will like tomorrow.
That is certainly the hope. Whether it works, and whether google will allow it to work remains to be seen.
That is my hope, and HP must be putting their faith in it.
I am putting faith in the HubPages Team.
With neither the data necessary nor the ability to analyze it, let alone the ability to make any changes, that's what I do.
It is better than a sharp stick in the eye.
Maybe the lower score for hubs that get traffic is to encourage us to update those so it will even get better traffic once it's updated.
Perhaps something to do with Paul Edmondson telling us that poor quality hubs that attract a lot of traffic are a danger to the site. He is probably right, but I don't think it's legitimate hubbers who are currently active who are creating that cr@p. There is still so much pre-2011 stuff on the site that was created by hubbers who have long since abandoned their accounts. Perhaps staff should deal with this before lowering the scores of our best performing hubs.
My take on this is that it may be better to write 10 short hubs to get traffic than 5 massive stellar ones full of stuff. Getting traffic is a bit hit and miss. This tactic could yield twice the traffic from 2-4 short ones that succeed (20:80 rule), than 1-2 big ones. Bit radical I guess!

I thought I knew the answer to this question. But something interesting happened in the last week which I found it hard to explain. I'd be interested to hear opinions.I have a hub which is nine months old and had just reached 250-300 hits per day.I was experimenting to see how many tags I could use...

I am finally seeing more Google traffic than Hub Pages traffic, will my hub score go up? I presume I must continue to promote like crazy - it is not an automatic traffic generator. Please advise - this is very confusing to a newbie.

Many good quality pages are Idled (become unfeatured) via ‘Analysis of the how engaged readers are with a Hub over an extended period of time’ – essentially because they get low traffic. It appears that this process was initiated to reduce the number of ‘low quality’ pages on the site. The concept...

Been looking around I have. Related Hub listings are a significant source of traffic and income. Many times they are reciprocal; you click on a related hub on your hub, you will then see your related hub on their hub. Not so if your hub has a low hubscore.I could give personal examples using my...

I've been updating and removing hubs. I haven't settled on a plan for good hubs that don't get traffic. Curious what others do. My top 40 hubs are 85% of traffic. I culled the heard and have been focused on my best hubs.Once I'm through them I'll come up with a plan for the rest.

I don't post in these forums anymore, so most of you won't know who I am, but I've been around a long time. I am not going to get into a debate with *anyone*, this is just an FYI for those of you who are panicked about the latest Google changes. 1. Google did a big change of some sort a couple of...
