I'm curious about how you attract readers from Reddit, which is extremely aggressive in banning people who promote their own links.

I have sign up and did a few thing on Mturk, I really do not know! Sorry, I know that is no help. I am still learning!

WryLiltposted 7 years agoin reply to this

Mturk is just a crowdsourcing platform which Hubpages hires to check new hubs. So it's just people being paid to check your hubs for quality.

You should try creating some content for YouTube as well.

If you create quality content, often it can find its way to be shared on facebook, reddit and beyond..

    1. revolutionbjj profile image90

      I have content on YouTube:
      <link snipped>

Most of the recent videos link to HP as well.  Is that what you meant?

    2. profile image0
promisemposted 7 years agoin reply to this

So far I haven't found YouTube to be worthwhile for attracting readers or generating enough revenue to make video production worthwhile. But maybe  others do better.

lobobrandonposted 7 years agoin reply to this

Google, Yahoo and Bing have to be organic no other way. Unless they're ads which I'm sure no one would pay for to link to HP.

Google Plus does exist, although I guess she probably would have just said that.  What are your five?

Yup she would have mentioned it.

    As of last 7 days:

    Bing

Thanks, Glenn.  I feel like Flipboard will recede over the coming weeks, but as long as it continues to be a slow and steady trickle, I'll be happy to have one more source!

Google (uk, .com, au, .ca, .in, ie, .nz)
    Hubpages
    Pinterest
    Bing
    Yahoo

I haven't ever had a thing from FB, but currently trying to change that. Ditto for G+.  Need to spend 1-2 months working on those two between now and the end of the year.

It's tricky writing on a US-based site as my spelling and topics are UK-centric.

  8. SheilaMilne profile image92

    1. Google

I'm expecting the Flipboard source to drop off the list as the initial rush has died down to nothing.

Mostly they are wanting to know how to store postcards, but also they seem interested in visiting Monaco and, oddly, an English village.

Mainly the Google search engine, meaning organic traffic; a bit from some social media like Facebook and Pinterest; some from other search engines like Bing. Google is the best and easiest way to get traffic as far as I'm concerned. More reliable into the future.

Hey Revolutionbjj, you must be kidding! A good number of your hubs are on the niche sites which are getting a lot of traffic from google.

          Not kidding at all.

If I look only at this week, I come up with around 8% for Google.  That's much higher than all time, but still paltry compared to the social media stuff.

I am around 30% Pinterest traffic too.

Should we be aiming for equal percentage traffic across the board or for one like Google to score a higher percentage over other sources.

    Or does it not matter?

    1. revolutionbjj profile image90

I don't see why it matters.

The more traffic sources the better (don't keep all your eggs in one basket).

However if you're not getting at least a small amount from search engines, it's time to rethink your SEO.

      1. Chriswillman90 profile image92
Chriswillman90posted 7 years agoin reply to this

What if the problem is the opposite? I'm getting the majority of traffic from search engines but not social media. What's the best way to expand traffic towards that sector?

For me, HubPages at the first place, and various international Google's search engine pages (one is Google Images search result page) in the other places.
