Nowadays people are dependent on the internet in many ways. It is very difficult to imagine our lives without it. In all walks of life, people are always connected to the it. Our lives are made so much easier. Research, work and even careers are made from it.
I always think, what would happen if one day the internet is cut off from the whole world? What would people do? How would their lives change?
I would like to know your thoughts and views.☺
A few weeks ago I was without the internet for 9 days. I was only frustrated by having to make phone calls to tech support several times before they actually got field service to the house to bring me a new modem. It was ridiculous, but in the end it worked out.
I found myself enjoying the outdoors more, spending more time preparing meals, read some awesome books, watched some videos, art work, and had more enriching conversations. One thing I worked on was creating more free energy for light sources incase of a power outage. I got a lot of things done that I wouldn't have otherwise.
I'm not sure I would miss the internet except for being able to order whatever I need and have it delivered right to the backdoor. That convenience is a big plus for me because of a chronic pain syndrome I live with, so the internet helps me manage pain. Its also a great outlet, and source of information and entertainment. And, its a good source for earning money from the comforts of home, I love that.
One thing I learned is to save web pages I want to read in the future off-line. I'm just glad I did have several tabs open that I could read, but that only lasted so long.
Such wonderful thoughts colorfulone. Thanks for sharing your experience. ☺
People will panic at first. Most people will find life boring and many of the services will go down along with the internet. The revenue of Google will drop drastically. We will feel like we have been transported back to the stone age. There will be a few people who will not mind that internet is gone while most people will start a riot and ask to fix the problem immediately. Our android phones will become useless. No one will want to buy an expensive phone. Entertainment will stop for many people who do not like watching tv. On the other hand, people will start going out again. The grades of students will also increase. Life will become a lot simpler, but it is will not become easier. Just my two cents.
Yeah, you have put it together very well Abhimamyu Gaur.
Thanks for your comment. ☺
FatFreddysCat that's only for people who watch it; not everyone.
Finally, someone who "gets" me! (sheesh)
FatFreddysCat, I'm sorry for the misjudgment...
Thanks for commenting. ☺
^^ Geez, a lotta humorless peeps in this thread. Lighten up.
Personally, I'd lose about half my income because I work freelance doing transcribing for a company based online.
Also I love Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube, so entertainment-wise, I'd probably be very bored with just regular TV and would probably stop watching altogether.
I already read quite a bit, but I guess I'd dedicate more time to writing since I'd be cutting out a lot of time currently dedicated to working and (to a lesser extent) watching TV.
I think the thing I'd miss the most is being able to order things online, since I live in a remote area that doesn't stock a whole lot of stuff in general.
Overall, more negatives than positives for me if the Internet were to just disappear one day.
Very well written Paxash. Thanks for sharing your valuable thoughts. ☺

Are you ever able to stay off the Internet for even just one whole day? This question came to me after another hubber answered another question about being on-line each and every day and how hard it is to not get on-line, even for one day. Do you find it very difficult to not be on-line for...

Is Google Chrome, or Firefox, better than Internet Explorer?I'm wondering if I'm going to run into problems with these. Has anyone compared these search engines? Which is the best one to use with Windows 7 ?
