Have any international hubbers opened a US bank account?

   Since Bank of America and Payoneer no longer accept payments from PayPal, as far as I know I would have to return to the US to open another US bank account. Are there any international hubbers that know of an US bank that works with PayPal and allows a new bank account to be opened without a personal visit to the US? (As long as the US bank card works with cirrus, I can withdraw my local currency here in Brazil.)

      Maybe it's different in Brazil, but here in the UK, I get my Hubpages payment in US$ and use the Paypal balance conversion facility to convert it to GB£ which I then withdraw to my UK Bank Account.  I am assuming that in Brazil, you can either, not receive currency in US$ or PayPal will not/can not convert it? There is a cross-border fee as well as a transaction fee but I don't have an alternative.

         I would gladly use the US dollars to buy things here in Brazil but the stores that take PayPal will only accept Brazilian reais. Unfortunately, PayPal wil not or cannot convert it! Very frustrating.

      I don't know which US-based banks will let you open an account remotely, but there is a PayPal debit card that you use to convert your PP balance to cash at an ATM.  A Brazilian expat forum would have lots of people more knowledgeable about it.  No harm in make calls to Wells Fargo, Chase or BMO-Harris, some of the other big banks. 
      
      Not to hijack, but can you explain more about BoA not accepting deposits from PP?  Are you talking about a USD PP account, or a PP account denominated in reals?  Worried this might affect someone I know.

         In October I got an email from my Bank of Ameica telling me that my latest transfer from PayPal was not accepted. I have tried several times with smaller amounts, thinking it might get through, but all of them have been refused and the money sent back to PayPal.
         I opened that account with Payoneer, so I do not know if it is just with them. Not sure if it is a German problem too, or just here. I sent some money to one of my German neighbors PayPal and they were able to accept it, transfer the money to their credit card, and then give me some Brazilian reais. (When I tried this to a local bank it did not work. I am going to try and open up an account here at HSBc but the closest one is over 100 km away, and getting there is not easy.)
         PayPal told me I cannot get the debit card here. They told me apply for another credit card, for all the good that would do!

            It's worth making a call to the local BoA branch where you first opened your account and trying to speak to an actual manager. (The 1-800 number is usually a waste of time, but I've had good experiences working out account issues by talking to a supervisor at the physical bank where I first opened my US account (not BoA).) I think if you have banked there for many years they will try hard not to lose you as a customer. Hope you find a solution.

               We do not have a local Bank of America branch. I opened it in NY through Payoneer, and am wondering now if they are worried about money laundering/terrorism!

   Yes, as Alison says, isn't it just a case of registering your nominated bank account with PayPal? Or is it a different system there? I'm in the UK too and there's no problem whichever bank we use.

      They put a note on my friend´s account that she could only use citibank, so it is very different here for some reason.
      We have a new facist government, and I think some of these restrictions might be new.

   As far as I am aware, having opening US accounts in three different states, you must be a US resident to do so.  This is to prevent money laundering.

      Thanks, psycheskinner. I wish I could find a bank that allowed small accounts, that way money laundering would not even be an issue.

         Banks make blanket rules that apply to everyone, so that probably wouldn't help.
         
         All banks have tightened up enormously in the last couple of years, not just for money laundering but to limit terrorist activities, people getting bank accounts to help establish identity etc.
         
         Years ago, it was common for migrants to Australia, or young Australians going for a gap year to Britain, to open an account in their destination country before they left. You'd then transfer your money and it would be waiting for you when you arrived. It can't be done now - if you don't have proof of residency you can't open an account anywhere.

   If necessary, you could abandon the HP ads program, switch to Google Adsense and use your own Amazon account for Amazon ads.
   
   Google will send a cheque or wire money through Western Union. Amazon send cheques too, unless there are particular restrictions in Brazil.
   
   Payment by cheque takes months, but it eventually ends up in your bank.
   
   edit: I was just told by Google that 'cheque' is the British spelling of 'check'. I'm glad that I understand that now, lol.

      Thanks. I think Amazon would be a complete wash down here (lots of restrictions) but the Google adsense is a good idea.

   In the Philippines there is one bank which services what it calls an EON card. I send my Paypal earnings there, where it is converted into pesos. Maybe you can find a similar service in Brazil.
