I posted before about how I recently returned to writing on HubPages. Years ago, Hubs did not have to be featured or get transferred to niche sites. I remember in 2011 that a hub could literally go from 0 views to 1,000 overnight.
But it takes a bit longer now. But I am curious about something; do hubs ranks slowly increase as they gather traffic on the niche sites? I still don't completely understand everything about the niche sites. But I had one of my articles go from 150 to 300 views a day, but it's gradual process. I'm under the assumption that it's because the ranking keeps going up, but perhaps it's simply more people searching for certain keywords, but I think it's the former.
I'm also wondering if people are sharing articles on social media.
Yeah, there is always an increase in views when an article goes to a niche site, but it can take a little bit of time.
I pretty much never share to social media, most of my traffic is organic search engine traffic and sometimes get a boost from someone randomly sharing an article on social media.
I have been sharing my articles on social media but I do not see any increase in traffic. A hubber told me that its because I have been ob the site for a short period of time, but I disagree. Do you think that traffic depends on the tenure of a hubber or the quality of their articles?
Well, Google cannot check the substance (like if information is correct) of an article, but it's important to have correct spelling, capitalization, and have decent grammar & punctuation. As for traffic, keywords are extremely important & the ranking of the hub itself. And of course, the topic needs to be one that people are searching actively searching for.
Quite frankly, I never really promoted my hubs years ago. I just wrote a ton of hubs on another account and focused on keywords & I was able to get quite a lot of traffic at one point before a terrible Google Algorithm.
Perhaps someone can chime in, but I don't think a few shares on social media from the writer will increase traffic much, but perhaps if the articles are shared naturally from viewers, then that could help in the long run to get a better ranking or more views in general for a particular hub.
Google does not know or care who you are. Google can't see your HubPages account as a separate entity - all it sees is websites.
When you add a new Hub, whether it is published on HubPages or on the niche sites, Google needs time to assess its value. It looks at the quality of the article itself and the quality of the site it's published on, and puts them together to assign a ranking for that article. It doesn't look at anything else you've written and it doesn't care.
As readers read and interact with the article, Google revises its ranking based on readers' reactions. That's why you want to make sure your article engages readers, so they will linger and read all the way through, share it with their friends, etc.
If your article is good, Google will see that readers like it. If the article is evergreen, those positive reader reactions will keep on happening and Google will be more and more impressed and will increase the article's ranking. An evergreen article can take a year or more to reach its full potential.
Yes. It does seem like for me that the overall process takes longer compared to 2011-2012 because of the need to get featured, moved to a niche site, then move up the ranks. I have a few hubs I wrote in 2014 that are evergreen. They don't garner a ton of traffic at once, but the views are fairly consistent.
You spoke of readers interaction. I was quite surprised that the poll on one of the hubs had over 2000 votes! Apparently, some or many of the viewers are looking at the hub fully.
The polls are interesting because I can ask questions relevant to the topic and find out what people are thinking. I can also see how much viewers interact.
Times were definitely different years ago, though. Id' get ranked high on some of my "lucky hubs" in like 36 hours.
But it seems HubPages has taken important steps because of the effects of Google years ago.

Hello Hubbers! I'm fairly new to HubPages, I've been here about a week now and love the community so far! Anyway, I was thinking, since we all have the same goal; to make money, get readers and help people, I thought I would make a topic for us all to discuss the best places to post our HubPages...

I have read somewhere here that google search engines take into account the page-views to compute ranking. Is it advisable to delete non-performing Hubs, those with 0 pageviews a day, as a way to increase traffic in an attempt to increase ranking? How do you deal with low-performing hubs?thanks in...

People have suggested I join Infobarrel so I did. I unpublished and deleted a hub here about La Guancha in Tenerife and thought I would use it as my first InfoBarrel article. The first problem I ran into was it said I was using a keyword too much. The keyword was roses and I was saying that there...

Does building internal traffic from hubpages increase google ranking of my hub?My question really is based on if it is possible to give poor performing hubs a boost by increasing their hubpage traffic. Will google recognise this as legitimate traffic when ranking it?i.e. if a hub that was...
