Ad Program and Adsense earnings.

   First,  a little about my hubpages account.  I am very new on hubpages.  I've only been here for just over a week. I have 9 submitted articles 8 of which were featured immediately and 3 were added to niche sites.  The only one that wasnt immediately featured will be resubmitted but is still getting decent views. 
   
   So my question is why have i already made a few dollars on the Ad Program and only one single penny from Adsense? Should i be doing something in my adsense account?  This is just odd because I've seen so many talk about higher adsense earning.  And if i consistently make nothing on adsense would i end up making more from ad program if i turn off adsense?

      If you turn off Adsense you won't make any money at all because to belong to the HP payment program, you must have Adsense.
      
      You can turn off the HP program and just use Adsense if you like, but I think it's too soon for you to start fooling with that.
      
      To make any real money you need a good number of articles on niche sites...so you are in your infant stages at the moment.
      
      The proof of the pudding isn't how many articles you get featured or moved to niche sites...the proof is how many people read what you write. THAT is where the money is!

         The point of my question was to learn about adsense from fellow Hubbers. I didn't think anyone would comment just to express disbelief of the info i provided to get more accurate answers. 
         
         So far I am benefiting from the HP Ad Program and Amazon affiliate links. I also referred a fellow writer with a bit of a following who has been adding their articles daily. Although i am only registering a couple hundred views so it probably doesn't add much to my earnings.  I do my own article sharing through social media, (personal and blog accounts) and several communities and groups that I am either  a member or admin of.
         
         As previously stated,  it was not my intention to attract nay-sayers or to make anyone upset. I only provided the info to get an educated answer from experienced Hubbers. I will make sure not to provide similar information in the future.

            It is quite possible to earn that much when you focus on social media and promotion.  Don't let negative nellies get you down.  You are doing fantastic as a beginner on HP.  Really great.  .

               Thank you!  Everything has been going great, but yesterday my CPM dropped a bit. I am not sure what determines the CPM but what should have been a record day for me for traffic ended up being slightly above average,  i still have a lot of learning to do obviously!

      So what Im understanding is I should just ignore adsense and consider it a pleasant surprise if I ever get a payout .

   I think if you have the ad program on then adsense earnings are usually few and far between because there are only a small number of adsense units showing on your hubs, whereas with the ad program you are earning based on number of views rather than actual clicks. You could turn the ad program off but then you would essentially be 'gambling' on people clicking on the ads. It works better for some people and not others.
   It's great that you are already earning dollars if you have only been here a week!

   When you have the HP Ads Program active, you earn mainly from HP ads.   Each Hub will show only one Adsense ad, which is right down at the very bottom of the Hub, where few readers will go (you may see Adsense ads elsewhere in the Hub but they are displayed as part of the HP Ads program and paid through HubPages).
   
   So, with HP Ads turned on, you can't possibly earn much through Adsense.   If you turn HP Ads off, all the ad space on your Hubs will be filled with Adsense ads, and you'll earn from Adsense alone.   
   
   In the past, most Hubbers have found they earn more from HP Ads than from Adsense alone.  However, in recent months, some Hubbers have been experimenting with turning off HP Ads and have found they do better with just Adsense.   It doesn't work for everyone - I've found it works out about the same for me, whichever I do. 
   
   There are other considerations as well.   You already have an Adsense account and presumably, you're earning from Adsense on other blogs or websites.  If that's the case, then you might prefer to use Adsense alone, even if the pay is slightly less, so that you reach your Adsense threshold quicker.
   
   On the other hand, be aware that if you turn off HP Ads and you don't use Amazon, you won't be earning anything on HubPages itself.    If your earnings balance doesn't change for six months, your account will be deemed inactive and you'll forfeit your balance.  So you may need to remember to turn HP Ads on occasionally, to earn a few cents and increase your balance now and then.
