    Hi All,

Just wanted to say Hi, I am new to hubbing and trying to get a feel for how it all works.

I have a question, I see that only 2 external links are allowed....what sort of links are these ?

Can you link directly to a website and/or a blog ?

For website promotion, is it better to link to a blog with the website link in, or directly to the website itself (or neither lol).

I just want to know what's allowed, so I dont hack you guys off !!

    cheers,

    Gazza

If one of those two links wants to be to your blog sure, however I personally just have a link to my blog on my profile page. To make the link go into your hub and open the text capsule you want to put that link in. Highlight the words that you want to make the link and press the silver "figure 8" on its side "Link" button then the rest is easy.

Good Luck and Welcome to Hub Pages!

Hi Gazzauk!! and welcome to HubPages!!!

External links are precisly that--like a link to a blog. You may link twice within a hub to outside sources that you are trying to get traffic to. Otherwise the hub can be flagged overly promotional.

I have to agree with what Jackson said--it would probalby be a little better to add one link to your blog/website on your Hub profile page. You can add a link in the about me section.

Check out some other hubbers and see how they've handled the same issue.

And, of course--feel free to ask any other questions you may have!!

    Hey Gazza - welcome big_smile

And I'd link the blog on your profile. If you've got a great blog, write a hub about it, linking it in a capsule. Tell the world what's great about it (maybe it's an info site or some such).

And good to see you asked before Maddie caught you for being 'overly promotional' smile

    Thanks for the welcome guys,

Thanks for the replies but I have a follow-up (kind of daft) question. You mention about having the blog in my profile but I tend to write many blogs, under lots of different blog addresses. So, should I update my profile everytime i write a new hub on a different subject ?

    thanks again

In your profile on the main page of your HUBS-- where you have info about yourself, post links to your blogs. you can have as many links as u would like there. For instance, after you say, "Thanks for your time, with respect Gary", you could add a line that says, "If you'd like to check out my other sites/blogs, here are a few links" or something similar then post the links.

Now, if you have say three or four blogs that you use all the time, then put all three blog addresses up as links. If you are constantly running around creating new blogs in new places for each new subject you want to write about, then I don't see the point in it, but yes you can change/update your info at anytime.

Gazzauk, I just wanted to clarify your original post. You can have many external links in each hub. But only two links in each hub can link to the same place. For example, I could have a hub with 4 external links: 2 to my blog and 2 to your blog. But I couldn't have 3 links to either your blog or mine. Does that help?
