   How many different terms can the left come up with, to try to make socialized medicine more palatable to the general public?
   Let's see, I can come up with 3- "public option"," consumer option", and the latest I've heard, the "competitive option."
   Anybody know any more? Do we all feel warm and cozy now that our nanny-state government is going to give us these wonderful "options"? Call it what you will, walks like a duck,talks like a duck, it's still the socialized medicine that has worked sooo well in other countries.

      I don't want to start an argument - just giving an opinion from one of those countries where socialized medicine has been working for some time now. Of course nothing is ever perfect, but in Australia no-one has to die from lack of medical attention. Also, no-one becomes bankrupt or ends up homeless due to excessive medical expenses. Health care is affordable for most people - you can get top of the line health care for $1500 a year. If people want more specialized care and they can afford top health cover, they are free to seek this out without spending a fortune. However if people are living hand to mouth and have no spare cash, they can still see the doctor and get the medical attention they need. This is humane more than anything else

      This report is really great news. Anything that shows improvements in health treatments and outcomes is welcomed, no matter what country it comes from. And hopefully everyone can learn from this. But it can be tempting to pick and choose results and statistics from only a few sources to backup an argument without looking at the full picture. The whole story is what needs to be reviewed.

            hmm, good pick up. No not anything - that's a dangerous statement for sure! I know you understand what I was saying though. Good results coming from ethical treatments and genuine studies - is that better?

   I'm not sure why something that is an option is a problem.
   
   I work full time and am insured, so don't be thinking that I am a freeloader. The cost of my premium, co-pays and Rx's is so high that I can't afford to get my medicine every month.
   
   I wish I had an option that would allow me to buy medication AND groceries in the same damn month. This month I'm going with -- medication. Got a cupboard full of ramen noodles to hold me until December.
   
   I don't understand why people put a label on an issue, then judge it because of the label.
   
   I don't mind telling you, the hungrier I get, the more pissed off I'm getting. It's not my fault I got sick, and I have worked my butt off to get myself a career that pays very well. My only other "option" is to drop everything and get public aid. Is that a better option for you guys?

   Socialized health care was implemented by the Soviet Union in the 1920's The original meaning was confined to systems in which the government operates health care facilities and employs health care professionals. A single payer systems is one in which the government finances health care but is not involved in care delivery.  So far we're not sure what were going to get.

   I heard from a source a few days ago that the endorsement was imminent and that it will be published by AARP tomorrow. The Associated Press also says its sources are telling the wire service the same thing.
