Someone asked to copy my hub?

   Someone from an online dating site wants to put one of my hubs on her website. She said she would credit me fully, but wants to publish the entire article on her site. I'd be fine with a link to my hub, but I'm a little hesitant about letting someone copy my work. Any advice? Words of wisdom?

      If she wants to give you credit it's okay but I recommend contacting hubpages because I read a post in which a writer from hubpages had her hub copied on another site (without knowing it) and this resulted with an alarm from hubpages saying her hub was a copied one!!! If you said yes, let us all know what happened (if anything happened).

   At least she asked!  She gets bonus points for that!  If you let her publish it fully, even with giving you credit, you're going to create duplicate content.  I'd stay firm with the link option.

   Or maybe let her use a percentage of it along with a suggestion that to view the full article they go to such and such a link, at least this way you might also pick up a few long term fans of your work too.

      That's a good idea... it might be a good compromise too. I'd have to figure out what and how much content I'd allow her to post.

   Or you could offer to write something similiar, but different enough that's it's not duplicate content and charge her for it.

   I agree, under no circumstances allow her to publish the whole story. Misty has a good idea, the back link and acknowlegement would be a good reward.

   If you're okay with someone making money from your work, and not getting paid, you could republish it.
   
   It won't hurt your HubScore if it's here first and then gets copied elsewhere (many users don't understand how the duplicate warning and copied alert are different), but it won't help your original with Google and it will open the door to it potentially being copied off the site where it got reproduced by people who won't necessarily credit you because they stole it from someone else.

      Good advice.  I'd be suggesting she publishes half and then gives a link to your Hub.

   Excerpts only with a link to the actual hub and a "read the rest here" anchortext is all I would allow JMO! Excerpts should be used to ENHANCE their OWN article not as the article itself as if written by them. Got any stocks I can borrow  and short sell them for profit since we're on the subject. See what I mean. Theres nothing in it for you. No need to check out your hub if the whole articles there and no clicks/page impressions for you. Don't get used.

      You're right. It's like me doing all the work without reaping the benefit. I'm all for links, but I don't want to have my whole page copied.

   Asking was an honorable thing to do, certainly better then stealing it and then you find it and have to file a DMCA complaint. A couple of months ago I recieved an e-mail from a college student in Ireland asking me if they could use one of my articles as a reference to what there subject was, I was honored and absolutely said, yes! Ask the person if they can backlink you , I am certain they would be happy to do it.

    She asked that is very good thing. Ask her to link back to main article and use only some portions of that article.
    
    One good thing is that she asked otherwise there are rippers all over internet and they don't care for law before copying things from others.

    I had a hubber ask to publish one of my hubs on their blog... I said OK and really didn't think of the income factor. Good point! There weren't any consequences as far as copied material, but when I posted one of my own hubs to another site I was majorly flagged and had to delete it from hubpages.

    By the way this is offtopic but have to post it to let others know, those who wants to protect their hubs from rippers, try using wp-protect plugin (for wordpress). It restricts people from copying text(doesn't allow even selection of text).

    It was good that she asked and what a compliment, a credit to your writing. However I agree that you could allow her a small part of it and a link, not the full hub.

    Hubpages didn't recommend that I allow the dating site to copy excerpts unless I trust them to credit me. And it would be easy for people to copy my text off the other site.
    
    They also said to wait a week after a hub is published before copying it elsewhere to avoid a duplicate flag.
