I joined HubPages a week ago and have tried to publish different hubs on a variety of topics.

This one about my experience at surf school in Costa Rica is my favorite, but I would like to get some tips and constructive criticism about how to make it better as I would like to keep writing about travel!

Thank you in advance for your advice. I am looking forward to getting more involved here and learning from some experts!

Costa Rica sounds beautiful!!! I do have to say after reviewing the hub I had located a few run-on sentences so try to implement your commas ,breaking up sentences but overall it was a wonderful hub and I enjoyed reading it immensely. Welcome to HP! smile

Thanks for the encouragement and helpful advice on the run-on sentences - sometimes I get a little too excited about the subject matter smile

It's a good start, but a few things to critique on (granted, I'm no Hub-Guru here!).

First, ask yourself if you are writing about vacationing in Costa Rica or if you are doing a sales pitch for a business that teaches beginners' surfing there. I couldn't tell which direction you were headed, exactly, as in the midst of all this beginning surfing, you toss in taking a horse-back ride. It felt very out of place with the rest of the article. Also, it felt rather short for an article and not terribly informative, unless I were to happen to be looking for a vacation in Costa Rica AND wanted to hire a place to teach me beginning surfing.

On a very positive note, your enthusiasm is catching and it tends to suck the readers in. If you'd like to write more about each aspect of your vacation, you can easily do so, but focus in on "Eating and Dining in Costa Rica" or "Costa Rica offers many exciting activities", etc. You made good use of video and images, although the last image had little to do with surfing.

You'll get it, you are infectious--in a good way! big_smile

Moanalisa, thank you for your honest opinion. I wanted to specifically talk about my experience at the Safari Surf School and also talk about the other wonderful things there are to do in Nosara. Your feedback makes a lot of sense and I definitely am going to make some changes to make it more informative!

I'm a newbie too, but it's a nice Hub in my opinion. Those pictures are really nice. (It's winter where I am, I'd love to be where it's warm right about now. lol.)

    Keep up the good work.
