I'm Seeing More In The Forums About Blogging

Would anyone be interested in a hub on creating Wordpress blogs? I'd be happy to oblige, but before I throw in the time I'd like to see if the need truly exists.

I figured I go into how to get your blog started, useful plugins you can get, and how to place ads on your blog.

So, is this something we would be interested in or would I be better off just answering question in the forums as they pop up? Either is fine with me. smile

OHHHH... Please, yoshi- YES.  I am so confused about Wordpress right now.  Which Wordpress, etc...  I'm all over a hub, though, like to bookmark them for future reference.  Forum posts get off track with information scattered all over.  I'd love a succinct hub.

I would have started a Political Blog but Ariana beat me to it. Besides nothing really interest me in politics righ now. I would like to see your question and answers on the forums so I can use your tips if I decide to start a blog.

Just a thought: There are already some very good hubs that discuss blogging. You may want to do a search to see what's already been covered. I know Wordpress has been mentioned several times but I can't recall to what extent.

Dunno if that's any help to you but I thought I'd mention it. smile

I was thinking of taking it from the roots (how to get your site up off the ground) to the trunk (how to build your site) and up to the leaves (how to monetize your blog.

So, what I have planned would be an all-inclusive and might actually span over a series. smile

Enroll me in Part One: the Roots.
Where do I send my tuition check?

If hubbers could have a PayPal "Donate" link like you see on freeware, I would definitely do it. smile

Here's a link to the 1000+ blogging hubs, including Mark Knowles' (professional blogger) hubs, etc.

        http://hubpages.com/search/include:hubs+blogging

Maybe you can find things that haven't been covered very well or at all.

Jeez...I'm probably making more work for you by suggesting you check out these other hubs... I hope that's not the case. sad

I think I'll shut up now and let you figure out what you're gonna do! lol

        Good luck! big_smile

Careful now Sara, I gotz da angry sea bass in me hand. lol! smile

Seriously ... It's possible it's all been done before, and as much as I would want to check out what others wrote, I want to be certain the words are my own and not remembered phrases from others works.

I'm going to take this hub from the perspective of someone starting out fresh and knowing nothing more than the word blog is a four letter word, which reminded me of so many other four letter words as I pummeled through the learning curve ... lol!

So keep on making those suggestions, as I do listen and they can only help. I just want to be certain that whatever I write comes from a fresh perspective and isn't something I read elsewhere, as I always like to make sure my writing is original.

If it's already overdone ... well ... I'll live with that, but sometimes a fresh new perspective, combined with some older ones, can make the difference in explaining a really tough topic for others.

And besides, I have some really good plugin names to throw out that I think might not have been around the many times this was handled by others (I hope). smile

(and yes, I made up my mind to tackle this one - Yoshi is a stubborn ole bugger - lol!)

That sounds great to me. I'm back to work and dont have the time to set up or monitor a blog right now. But I would need your A to Z type of information to get started.

That would be great yoshi.  I have a few "how to" and other blog hubs bookmarked, but most are not written in "newbie" or "novice" speak.  I would love an "Idiot's Guide to Blogging" or "Blogging for Dummies".

And I agree with what you said above.  I just summarized some of this perspective in a hub I did on Barbara Winter's Making a Living w/o a Job.  She says never be detered that it's been written before, or that someone may know more than you do, because there will alway be people who like the way you explain things.

hehe - it would definitely be 'an idiots guide' as I found out what an idiot I was when I was trying to build my own blog. lol!

But ya know what ... I fell in love with the darned thing once it was done, and it would be great to pass that feeling on to others. smile

I've found there is a lot of people interested in making a blog but don't know how. So yes a hub about it would be great.

However if you make it, I hope you tell how people can and should get their OWN domain and their OWN hosting for it.

A free blog on free sites is not the same as your own. I would never spend a lot of time making a blog or website on a site that could delete it in a second.

Having your own hosted blog you OWN it! You can do whatever you want with it, say what you want, SEO everything on it. You just can't do that on a free site. smile

Absolutely! And yes, this will be starting fresh from HOW to buy your own domain, all the way up to adding really good plugins to your finished product. smile

          More like 6 - 8.smile

I was planning to do this myself during the JanHubChallenge.  As it stands, I only wrote one hub, but will eventually complete the others I have partially written.

The one hub I did is "http://hubpages.com/hub/make-your-own-websites (using Wordpress). (didn't want to leave a link, so copy and paste if anyone wants to check it out)

I just meant that I had reserved 6 URLs for it, but I could see it being a couple more. Will have to take a look at yours in the AM as I like your instructional hubs and found them helpful when I was starting here.smile

Sometimes an idea needs to be expressed many different ways before it can become clear to all. I encourage you to add to your Wordpress collection and if you should decide you want to link to mine for any reason, you have my full permission to do so. smile

It would be no bad thing to do, although a lot of the tedium has been taken out of Wordpress installs in more recent versions.

a few weeks ago I finally took out one of my old Greymatter installs and replaced it with wordpress, felt like the end of an era sad
